This machine has more features for a far less price than any other on the market. My last Hp lap top was my first computer I ever had and it lasted 8 years. Seeing how great that model was, I would never even consider buying any other brand.

On the face of it the CPU is somewhat lightweight and so perhaps this is why another reviewer mentioned his desktop being faster. All told I'm impressed with it's wide feature-set - EVERYTHING works and no problems except the HP (not Microsoft!) volume control software (operated by the quickplay touch keys) sometimes leaves the volume bars on the screen and disrupts the machine. I've also not been able to create a recovery DVD - using the correct DVD-R. TV card works, DVD player, tons of RAM, 64-bit OS (and no compatibility issues), IE perfect, all slots, HDMI worked first time (and its AUDIO) :)), large HDD, 4 USB ports...etc, etc. Wireless perfect and fast. Vista works just fine on the machine - clearly a good match and it was up and running in just a few minutes. Though I'm a regular Amazon customer I bought mine from another vendor at around $200 less than Amazon and no sales tax.

This HP is a winner. 17 inches monitor, ability to watch TV, large keyboard, took no time to have it working, fast very fast graphics. I recommend this laptop and I normally use several laptops but this is the best. I only had a problem with Amazon pre-sales. They were unable to tell me if the card to watch TV came with the order. The card was included with the order no problem. I got an answer from a rep telling me the basically had no idea. Amazon needs to try harder answering customers questions. We buy a lot from Amazon and this was the first time that I got a "We do not know" kind of answer.

Unfortunately this computer was quite disappointing in performance and picture quality. What was not disappointing was Amazon's handling of the return and total satisfaction regarding the transaction. Amazon will always be my first choice in the future. RFG
