Amazon.com Product Description
Rowing and cycling are widely considered two of the best all-around activities for cardiovascular fitness and strength, and now you can enjoy both workouts in a single device with the deluxe Conversion II recumbent bike/rower. Rowing is an efficient total body workout that uses all the major muscle groups, including the legs, arms, shoulders, abdominals, and buttocks. It's also one of the best exercises for building a strong back, as well as one of the most effective low-impact aerobic exercises for people who want to increase their metabolisms and burn more calories without hurting their joints. Stationary cycling, meanwhile, is also a terrific low-impact cardiovascular exercise, with a routine that focuses on all the major muscles in your hips, thighs, and buttocks. p The Conversion II looks like a standard rower, with a molded, adjustable foam-padded seat and seat back, rotating rowing pedals, and an extruded aluminum rowing beam. However, the seat also doubles as a recumbent bike seat that supports your lower back while you ride, with foot straps holding your feet securely in place as you pedal. And that's not all, as the Conversion II also offers options for working your upper body--including such exercises as bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, and forearm curls--along with a resistance cord that attaches under the seat for light leg presses. p Other details include eight levels of smooth, quiet magnetic resistance; a multifunction electronic monitor with a large LCD display that tracks speed, distance, time, calories burned, and pulse; sturdy steel construction; a hand-pulse sensor built into the grips to measure heartbeats per minute; a weight capacity of 250 pounds; wheels for easy transport; and a folding frame for quick, effortless storage. The Conversion II measures 74.5 by 25.5 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 105 pounds.p strongKey Features:/strongul liDoubles as a recumbent bike and a rower liAdditional upper body strengthening exercises including bicep curls, triceps kickbacks, forearm curls and more liAttach the resistance cord under the seat for light leg presses li8 levels of smooth, quiet magnetic resistance, deluxe housing liMulti-function electronic monitor is built into the housing for a sleeker design with a larger LCD display for easier reading liElectronic monitor keeps you motivated by tracking speed, distance, time, calories burned, and pulse liMolded foam-padded seat and seatback liRotating rowing pedals liFoot straps on all pedals hold feet securely in place liExtruded aluminum rowing beam liSturdy steel construction liWheels for portability liFolds for storage liHand pulse sensor built into grips to measure heart beats per minute /ulp

4 out of 5 stars great product   September 25, 2008

This is a great machine for a total body workout. I cannot believe how quiet it is and it runs very smoothly. It was quite easy to assemble and did not take too long. The only con I can think of is that they should have put more levels of resistance on it. I am a woman, 5'6'' and weigh about 135 lbs. I can row on the highest resistance, so I think men with more body strength could use more resistance. It was a little pricey, but it is definetly a quality machine compared to some I have tried. Very sturdy and folds up easily. I would recommend it.

We are glad we chose this machine. It is great to have both options of a rower a bike. My husband had no problems with assembly. Best of all, we received it much faster than expected. Love amazon.com!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Recumbent/Rower!   January 20, 2008

I bought this because it was both a recumbent bike and a rower. I am very happy with this product because the quality is the best I have had with any fitness equipment I own. It is so quiet and sturdy and easy to use. I can go from bike to rower in seconds, making it easy to rotate every couple of miles if desired. br /The extra bonus is that you can use it for strength training by just pulling the resistant bar while standing. And a few other options are shown in the book that comes with it. br /I would recommend this product for the quality and ease of use. Easy to fold up if needed.

1 out of 5 stars Coincidence or poorly manufactured equipment?   January 17, 2008

I ordered the Stamina Deluxe Conversion II, knowing that it would be an excellent addition to my home gym. After assembling it, I saw that the tension knob and the spring pin knob were cracked, making it impossible to use w/o taping it together (which I did, just to see how the unit worked). I liked the unit, but it was ridiculous to pay that much for something in order to "tape it together" so I contacted Stamina and they would not return my calls or e-mails. Amazon (from whom I had purchased it) graciously replaced it with a new one. br / When the new one arrived, I examined it thoroughly before the delivery person left. After assembling it, I started to work out and there was such a loud squeaking noise, it was impossible to use. I persevered, thinking that there was something that "needed to be worked out" but it got worse. Once again, Stamina would not return e-mails or voicemails, so Amazon (thank goodness I had bought it from them) allowed me to return it (their policy is to not provide a third replacement). br / So, this leads me to believe that Stamina would not accept calls (only voicemail) and would not reply to my e-mails because they know that they are manufacturing an inferior product.
