Awful - worst HP experience ever October 6, 2008 Marcia R. Oganowski (Cincinnati OH USA) First one did not work. Installation software would not work. After lengthy phone session with technician I could barely comminucate with, HP replaced the core unit only. I had to tote the replaced one to a UPS dropoff. Bought the warranty with next day replacement, which took 3.5 days. Setup software failed on the new unit too. (You have to sit through a maddening sales pitch and music until you finally reach support). Set up software could not be reset by second online support session. Printer Malfunction. On one attempt to reach support, I gave up after 2.25 hours. Toted the heavy printer to FedEx dropoff. (FedEx would not assist getting printer out of auto.) 2nd replaced core unit: the printer would set up, even wireless this time!, but then the paper jams started, first just with duplexer. On removing the jammed paper, noticed some of the paper feed parts had become loosened and fell from their positions into the bottom of the printer. One of three support calls on this, technician had me reset the printer with the parts removed. Then could not print at all without tearing paper. I'll pass on replacement number three and look for an AIO from another company. I had always recommended HP to my customers. Not any more. Even technical support says this printer has many issues. If you got a good one of these, maybe your stars were aligned! CNet technical reviewer must have gotten a cadillac version.
While a problem to setup - GREAT after that September 23, 2008 David I had to re-install VISTA as the 1st time I installed the printer software it was buggy, could not get everything to work...With a new install of OS, AND...YES this was important....a reboot after each part, printer, scan (also had to upgrade the scan software, which was cool how HP automatically gave the right software), etc....HOWEVER, even when I said I did not want all the bloated software, it was installed............ALSO, many small software items are installed under the covers, which is a real drag to remove, which is why I had to do a re-install of vista...two days (about 8hrs)...now you know why it is on sale...IF you have the time and are willing....it is a great product once it is working..............GOOD LUCK.............

I purchased this to replace another HP all in one that only lasted two years. It took a week to finally get the software installed on a windows XP pro system. Pay attention to other reviews that mention difficulty with installation. After intallation I have never been able to get decent prints. Consistently since day one of operation the print function has smeared and streaked basic black and white documents. Tech support from HP has been a bad joke. Trying to get them to replace the obviously defective print head (display window says "print head problem") on a machine less than 6 weeks old that has never printed a single acceptable page has been fruitless. You would think that the emails between tech support and myself are a bad joke. As an architect I have used commercial grade HP plotters for years and they are bomb proof performers. These one-for-all, be all things, officejets are consitently prematurely released Beta hardware garbage. Run the other way when thinking of buying. Update: Could not get HP tech Support to understand that I was not able to print a test page with the machine locked up in order to get a lot number from the fouled print head. Told me I was flat out of luck in more than one email. Out of frustration turned to Amazon for help on a six week old machine. Bam! Just like that brand new machine delivered the next day from Amazon. After the absolute frustration of trying to get HP to stand up for the own product, Amazon does it for them without a second thought. You cannot beat Amazon for standing behind what they sell. Problem is, I now have the same HP garbage machine that I stated with and the hell is starting all over again. Same installation nightmares that I went through before. I will give it one more try, then return it to Amazon and buy a Brother. Pay attention to the previous nightmare reviews that also had multiple new printers shipped to them only to have the same malfunctions. I'm living it. HP never again.
HP Printer Officejet Pro L7780 September 8, 2008 Mary Buchholz (Belle Fourche, SD USA) I have been very pleased with my new duplex wireless printer. I set it up myself - except I did get my husband to lift it onto the desktop. It sits 17 inches high, 22" across and 20" deep. But IT WORKS - and when I turned my laptop on in the other room, it prints from that too. I have had it about a month and it is suggesting I will need a new black cartridge so the ink seems to last quite a while -- I do a lot of printing (for home use.) I am well pleased. Mary in SD
Best value, best speed, low operating cost. September 7, 2008 Thomas G. Breen (coral springs, fl) I've owned this printed for about a year. I was worried about all the negative reviews, but Consumer Reports stated that it was a "much better than average" printer. So I purchased one and have not been even the slightest bit disappointed since. And the cost of "per page printing" is the greatest value available.
