OK Printer Except for Lousy 4x6 Print Tray. August 29, 2008 Old Geek I have been running a C4150 for two years. For the price it is a good enough printer. I print off of a Mac OSX, an XP and a Vista computer. So that's a pretty good test. One gripe though. The 4x6 print tray really sucks. It always jams. I have gotten tired of fixes. Looking around the Web, it looks like I am not the only one who can't print 4x6's. How can they release a product that performs like this?
My replacement model is ALSO screwed up. August 1, 2008 Micki LeCronier (Fort Myers, FL USA) This thing is the WORST. It only connected properly on and off for the first month or so, then I moved and lost my software disc; then I returned the danged thing, they replaced it (due to my profuse whining) and sent me another. I ordered a new software disc, just installed it and found out the cartridge holders (??) on this replacement version are misaligned. I am going to take a sledge-hammer to this waste of plastic and go OFFICE SPACE on it. I have never had problems with a printer before - somebody point me to a field ...
After paper jam and it won't run anymore July 23, 2008 Dell user (Arcadia, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have this printer for just over 1 1/2 yr with very light usage...just finished the original ink and put in 2 brand new HP cartridges 2 weeks ago and was still working ok up to yesterday. I tried printing an email today and did not pay attention to the paper tray which only had 3 pieces of paper left. Paper jam!! The roller fed all 3 paper into it. After clearing the paper jam from the back of the printer (the paper was intact without any missing piece), I was not able to make it work again....paper jam error won't go away no matter what I did. A called to HP 800 # got me an Indian customer service rep. She would not even patch my call to support since the warrrenty has expired. In order to talk to technical support, I would have to pay $35 to have support for 14 days. I am going to junk it and look for another brand. What a waste of money for a good looking printer with all the cool functions but does not last. Edit: I almost junk it...then I found a fix...not from HP but from other user. Check this out if you have the same paper jam problem: http://www.fixya.com/support/t203152-hp_photosmart_c4180_phantom_paper_jam This link just save me $70 to have it exchanged by HP.
Unreliable, same jam problems as mentioned June 14, 2008 Barrett (SC, United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a C4180 in late 2006, the printer was very easy to set up and I loved the features. Soon it started having feed problems however, and eventually quit working altogether. A call to HP yielded fast and courteous service, I was impressed with how they handled a replacement. Got the new printer, and it worked fine for awhile then started misfeeding and giving the carriage jam errors that have been mentioned here. They want $35 to service the printer as a one time fee, but it is starting to look as there is an inherent design flaw in this model and i'm just going to find another one. The features and performance of this printer would have yielded a 4 or 5 star rating from me, but alas it's worthless if it will not do something as simple as feed a sheet of paper.
THINKING HP ? NEVER AGAIN ! June 11, 2008 Native New Yorker 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had purchased this as a backup for my epson photo printer. Got to use it about 6 times-something was burning inside of it so I contacted HP and go so much grief then kept tellime me the warrantee was up and I informed them it wasn't up till July 2008 and it was a defaulty workmanship so they had to make good on it. Well to make a long story short after about a month of this they finally replaced it-With another broken one! I'm considering this a lesson in life-count my losses and Don't buy HP products ever, ever, again!
