Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Streamline your replication tasks by instantly converting printed documents into easily shared electronic files. The highly portable 17oz DS485 provides high-resolution duplex scanning with a conveniently small footprint and a high-speed USB 2.0 interface. Scan both sides at up to six pages per minute at 600 dpi and 24-bit color, without the need for an external power source.

5 out of 5 stars Really nice, reliable, portable scanner   November 9, 2007

Although I own much larger flatbed and auto-sheet fed scanners, I have to say, for day-to-day scanning tasks, particularly black & white document scanning, this little Ambir is what I use most often. It does a fine job, whether scanning in color, grayscale or black and white. Excellent for moving to paperless file storage, particularly if the pieces you scan are low page-count and single-sided (that said, it's easy to scan one side, then the other, and have both imaged into the same file). 'Produces small PDF file sizes, particularly in B&W. Nicely configurable. I find I need to calibrate it very rarely. And, the thing draws all its power from the USB port. Packs small (mine shipped with a nice case), since it's just the scanner and the USB cable. Definitely recommended for home or traveling office use.
