5 out of 5 stars Heavy Duty Office Copier/Printer   October 3, 2008
C. K. Chua (Pomona, CA United States)
I had been lucky enough to discover this little performer about 6 years ago. i have since bought/got about 6 of them where i have worked and family and my own at home. The One thing about the D760 and its variations is that they are very reliable. as long as the papers/toners you use stay within what is acceptable for most laser printer/copiers (good copy paper, not the real cheap kind, good source of toner) it should last you a long long time.

The original one i discovered 6 years ago still functions wonderfully. and i have no complaints so far from the other one that i have acquired for various people. its really simple. toner gone? just reload.

I've even gotten ones that are broken, fixed it myself using parts from ebay and walah! good as new!

i havent tried the networking part yet. but i'll take what others said at face value. the ADF might need changing the rubbers if you use it a lot. just like any other laser/copier unit. normal wear and tear, but its real easy to change.

overall i give it a 10 out of 5 compared to all the other laser/copier I've ever used... simply, the best!

3 out of 5 stars Think Twice Before Buying   October 16, 2007

Three and a half years ago we purchased a D760 Image Class copier from Canon. We paid $642 for the machine and am currently on the third cartridge. Cartridges cost $150 per cartridge - that's a total of $1092.00. The machine has a counter in it and to date, has made 5495 copies - that averages about .18 cents per copy. Last week film began coming out of the machine where the paper comes out, and I was told the machine needs a new fusing unit assembly at $200. Since I live in a rural area, the machine, which is quite heavy, needs to be driven down to the repair shop, about 90 miles away, for $255 worth of repairs. The machine has been great up to this point, but I'm beginning to wonder if its worth repairing at all, or simply smarter to buy another brand of copier.

5 out of 5 stars lot more than desktop printer, love it for its full features   February 18, 2005

I used it only a few days, better than I expected, reliable, straight forward, no training needed. 30page adf on a table top copier un-heard of. printer has more features than I ever wanted on tabletop unit: overlay for office letterhead, also useful for watermark office logo, multipage print for record keeping in a tight space, toners are dirt cheap in the aftermarket, and hear good quality responses. I will find out soon. I may buy another for my home, if it goes on sale.

3 out of 5 stars Expensive printer - Good for home use only   October 12, 2004

Canon D760 is a great printer as long as you connect it physically to a PC. Of course, very few buy a $600 printer for home use? A printer of this class is typically a network printer, shared by many, in a small office environment. If you are planning to network this printer using a print server, Canon D760 just falls short of expectations. Canon officially supports only AXIS 1610 model print server (through parallel port). The Axis print server retails for $200. Note that cheap and reliable alternatives like D-Link and Netgear print servers will not work with this printer. Though printer itself supports USB port. However, the USB port works only when it is connected through a PC. So, you cannot use a USB port print server with this product. With so many limitations (Many of which I did not even know, when I bought it), I would not recommend this product.

Great copies, turns on for immediate copies, turns off by itself, very quiet.
