Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Complete Story of Operation Desert Storm 1990-1991. In 1990, aggression had a new name: Saddam Hussein. CBS NEWS tells the story of Iraq's dastardly invasion of Kuwait and the build up of coalition forces in the Gulf region to oppose further Iraqi moves. Watch the initial strikes against Iraq and then ride along with the tanks of the coalition as they smash the Iraqis and liberate Kuwait. Final victory over Saddam Hussein's brutal aggression brings about the triumph in the desert. Narrated by CBS NEWS anchor, Dan Rather.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars One sided   July 3, 2008
Joe Cruzer (Toronto, Canada)
This DVD is very one sided. Likely due to the production of the DVD. It was probably made around mid nineties. Aside from a 5 minute Iraq history tale and the interview with Sadam. There was no coverage of Iraq pro war support. Of course no new footage. All are from the news at the time. New info has risen in recent time. Of course not in this DVD. I bought it because it's cheap. But find something else to spend your hard earned money.

4 out of 5 stars Good in depth info about first Gulf War   August 21, 2005

The guy gave this dvd 1 star is basically a big time Bush supporter if the only reason for not getting this dvd is based on Dan Rather's goof up of GW's military record (which is still questionable to this day). This media documentary was actually made years ago, judging by how much younger Dan Rather looked during the interviews and presentation. This is a very in-depth look at the first Gulf War, and really good interviews of Desert Shield/Storm veterans. I am a Desert Storm veteran myself and there were things i learned from this film, especially political stuff before the war began. Its 4 hours long, and really gives you detailed info from the events of 1990-91. This was by no means made to promote the present conflict, but to basically show the events of the last one, including some interesting statements by George H.W. Bush about not invading and occupying Iraq, how that would be a big mistake, mistakes his son has made now.
This documentary has plenty of interviews, descriptions of weapons and tactics, pre-war politics, and footage you won't find anywhere. Full length press conferences of G.H.W.Bush, General Colin Powell, and General Schwartzkopf. This is a must have for historians. I highly recommend it!
