1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money! READ THIS REVIEW!   April 5, 2008

The main ingredient is Salicylic Acid & really that's the only one that counts! S-acid is in most of the acne products out there.

Read the REAL reviews (not the planted ones) and you'll see like I experienced that this product will not only make your acne worse, but could change your acne to cystic which HURTS & you'll have to go on accutane.

Whatever kind of acne you have, you owe it to yourself to either see a doctor, or research yourself on what may work for you. Don't waste your time, effort, money, or heartache on this junk.

Proactive & Murad are now at even par for scamming desperate people into thinking their skin will get better by lining the company pockets with peoples money & tears. Shame on both companies.

4 out of 5 stars It seems to work well with my skin   March 12, 2008

Like so many others, I've been struggling with acne since I was a teen. I am now 24 and I still have problems with acne. I've been to several dermatologists, have been on multiple oral medications and countless tubes of creams and gels. Nothing really worked. So a few days ago, on a whim, I bought Murad's Acne Complex kit. I was very pleased with my glowing skin after the first application. But then the next day I read all of the negative reviews on here and almost stopped using it, out of fear of plague-like rashes and monster break-outs. I'm glad I kept with it because it really seems to be helping my acne and surprisingly, my skin tone. I didn't realize how uneven my skin was until I started using these products. I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5, simply because I haven't been using it for a long period of time.

Obviously, this kit is very hit or miss. It either works for you or it doesn't. I would urge you to give it a try and see if it is right for your skin. And, as others have said, start slowly or your skin might get overly irritated. Best of luck!

2 out of 5 stars why won't this work for me?   February 20, 2008

I thought that i finally find the right treatment. But when i used it for a month. I know that i need to find a new treatment. Another long way to go. I have sensitive skin. I have problem using proactive since my skin is allergic to Benzyol peroxide. Murad said it has no Benzyol peroxide and i was excited to use it. But i get nothing. My acne is still coming just like it used to be before i am using the product. Even worst if i can say. I started to get more whiteheads. The 2nd step of this treatment caused my skin to get red. The only thing i like about this product is the moisturizer. It makes my skin feel soft and i also like the smell. I wonder why this doesn't work for me since i know that it works for a lot of people.

4 out of 5 stars A good product   February 10, 2008

I'm 20 years old and have suffered from severe acne for about 5 years. I tried ProActive and had an allergic reaction to the benzoyl peroxide, so I switched to Murad, which uses salicylic acid as the primary ingredient. I've been using Murad for almost 2 months now, and have seen a big improvement in my skin. My breakouts are much less frequent and my skin looks healthier.

Not everyone's skin reacts the same to this product. I have seen a lot of bad review where people say their breakouts got much worse. This is a result of the "purging" process, when the impurities in the skin move to the surface of the skin before being removed. Murad makes you believe this process is very brief, but for me it lasted about a month, after which my skin began to improve. I have also seen negative reviews where people say they developed itchy red bumps from the product. This is an allergic reaction. If it happens, this is not the product for you. To prevent severe reactions, it's important that you gradually introduce the product. The directions say to use it twice a day, but when you first start you should use a small amount once a day and see how your skin reacts to it.

Don't let negative reviews stop you from trying this product. If it doesn't work, you never have to use it again, but it has worked for me and I'm glad I tried it.

5 out of 5 stars My skin has never felt so great!!!   January 15, 2008

I've been having problems with my skin since I was a young teenager. I'm now twenty-two and acne has really become a problem. I went to the dermatologist and he put me on benzoyl peroxide and retinal. I had been using Proactiv but it just didn't seem to be doing much for me. The benzoyl peroxide did dry up my acne but my skin really suffered and I couldn't even use the retinal, it looked like I had a chemical burn on my face when I used it. But I got Murad a couple of weeks ago and I started using it just a little over a week ago. I can already tell a difference in my face. My skin is healthy and glowing and is finally healing up after several months of non-stop cystic like pimples. I still use benzoyl peroxide in the mornings after I wash my face with Ivory soap. And I wash my face with Ivory soap before I use Murad. But this product is great, for me better than Proactiv Solutions. Of course everyone is different, but it has a lot of natural stuff in it (lemon, orange, green tea, etc.) To me it smells like Skittles when you first put it on but it does have a really strong medicine smell after a couple of seconds. I would definitely recommend this product, but just make sure you follow the instructions they have in their pamphlet.
