2 Broken Printers February 18, 2008 Tulsa Reader 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading raving professional reviews, I purchased a Magicolor 2530DL for home use. The printer only works with 20 lb. paper; it leaves white vertical streaks on everything but the test page; and now says "media jam fuser" and "prints" blank paper. I called tech support so many times, that they finally sent me a replacement Magicolor 2530DL printer. They didn't send me all of the information to send the first one back. So, now I have two. Neither of the printers work. I'm looking for a good place to get them repaired. Professional tech reviewers need to pay attention to how long the items work well.
Not much luck with ours October 29, 2007 Alonzo (Kansas City, MO USA) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
We haven't had much luck with ours. br / br /When it works it works very nicely. Black text pages are terrific, and come roaring out of the machine at a good clip. Color pages are lively -- print photos on first-class paper and it's almost like looking at pages from magazines. br / br /The main trouble is, the machine behaves properly only about half the time we try to use it. Turn it on and we're as likely to get an "Error" light as a "Ready" light. We've spent hours on the phone with Konica-Minolta help -- they've been very nice and helpful, but I'd rather not have to be bothering them in the first place, you know what I mean? br / br /We're forever having to open the thing up and use a pencil eraser to get rid of toner dust, or jiggle the toner cartridges, or pull out jammed paper. The machine seems very sensitive to humidity -- overcast and rainy days mean lots of printing problems. And, as many others have pointed out, this is one loud machine. When it grinds into action it'll make you jump out of your chair. When it's in "rest" mode ... Well, about every ten minutes or so it grinds into action for 30 seconds, maybe. You'll think construction has started up next door. Then it goes back into quiet-sleep mode. br / br /I loved the idea of an affordable color printer, and it was nice to see so many having good experiences with this one. But our experience hasn't been happy, and I wouldn't buy it again. 'Way too much involvement with the guts of the machine. I really don't want to have anything to do with a printer more than switching it on and off, and once in a while giving it some new ink or toner. Owning this thing has been an education in printer technology -- and it's an education I had no desire to be subjected to.
A good printer for home use. September 16, 2007 B. Hunsaker (Vancouver, WA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This review is based upon the previous generation printer (2430 DL). br / br /This printer has been a solid performer for nearly two years. It isn't the fastest color laser printer but for the price you can't beat it. br / br /Works great on both Macs and PCs. br / br /The only problem is the output tray. The flimsy piece of plastic breaks far too easily. Your printer will still work, but paper will fall to the floor.
Replace your inkjet now! April 17, 2007 Tod Gentille (Torrance, CA United States) 19 out of 20 found this review helpful
Installing this printer on my home network of Macs and PCs (both wired and wireless) was actually a pleasure! Kudos to the software developers at Konica Minolta for making drivers and installers that work perfectly and ship with the product! We were tired of ink jet printers always running out of ink, drying out, printing streaky and generally being useless whenever we needed them. We've only owned this printer a month but so far it is the perfect replacement printer for an inkjet. It is a four-pass printer so it is slower than one-pass versions but it still beats any ink jet I've ever owned. It is fast for just black and white. It is also has a nice small footprint (for a color laser). The only cons are it comes with smaller starter cartridges (but that's one reason the price is so low), and replacements are expensive, and it prints very dark on the Mac so I always use the quartz filter to lighten the output for photos.
Great printer for the money! March 26, 2007 Craig Stonaha (Reading, PA) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
This printer has turned out to be a great option for our company! Networking is simple and it works flawlessly for our employees. The only negative is that it is very slow but we were aware of that issue prior to purchase. If you are looking for a good quality networked color laser printer for not alot of money, I highly recommend this device. br / br /If you are planning on using it heavily to print multiple copies of color documents, I would recommend stepping up to a model that boasts better speed.
