Powered by a 500-watt motor, this classic blender blends margaritas and smoothies, mixes soups and sauces, chops fruits and vegetables, grinds coffee beans and nuts, grates cheese and coconut, and crushes ice. The blender has a high speed and a low-speed pulse control, which can be held down for continuous action. Its 40-ounce, ribbed-and-tapered glass container fits onto Oster's distinctive beehive-shaped base, which is clad in lustrous chrome and outfitted with slip-proof rubber feet. Its stainless-steel blade-assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. Fully assembled, the blender stands 16 inches high on a 7-1/4-inch-diameter base. With the exception of the dishwasher-safe glass container, all parts--including the plastic lid with its plastic 2-ounce measuring insert--require hand washing. Another new blender September 8, 2008

Does no one make a blender that will last over a year anymore? Technically, I should wait a year to write this reveiw. I've had it a few months so far and it's not a bad blender. I've done smoothies, gazpacho and pesto with no issues. I like that the mechanics of the blender are metal and that the pitcher is glass. It's powerful and works well.

I have been looking for a new blender for a long time. I have had bad luck with other blenders burning out or not doing the job I expected. I can say without a doubt that this is the best blender I have every owned. Ice is blended in a matter of seconds. When making smoothies I rarely need to stir the ingredients to get the blender to continue doing its job. This blender was recommended to me by a colleague and I highly recommend it you!

Have used this bender a number of times and it works wonderfully. Lots of power, crushes ice in no time. It is a little loud, but as long as it does it's job that is not a problem for me.

Oster 4093 Classic Beehive Blender, Chrome
After 25+ years, it was time to retire the old blender, so I did some Internet sleuthing and decided on the Oster Beehive Classic.
All I can say is wow! This blender rocks. Sure, it doesn't have the bells and whistles of some other brands, but what it doesn't have you don't need. Trust me on this. On and Off are the key items.
The powerful motor blends anything effortlessly. Adult drinks with ice, smoothies, sauces. It's a breeze to operate and easy to clean. The sturdy base is tip proof and the glass workbowl/container has the handle on the end, giving you a perfect pouring spout on the diagonal.
I guarantee you will love the Oster Classic.
