5 out of 5 stars Perfect!!!   May 28, 2008
Lisa M. Foltz (PA, USA)
I've been watching this fire pit for months now. Finally, my bfriend surprised me with it and I absolutely LOVE it!! The illumination of the moons and stars are beautiful in the evening! We live in a development where "burning" is prohibited. However, b/c this came with a grill (to cook on) and a screen, we were allowed to use it. It is also very nicely sized. Several people can sit around it. It calls for 5 lbs of sand to be put in the bottom of it before burning. Just a note- we used more than this b/c we felt 5 lbs barely covered the bottom. The sand is used to prevent long term damage from ashes. We also bought the cover advertised with it, to protect from the weather. Just a note on the cover- it can't be latched around the legs with the screen on. Only one latch can be used if the screen isn't taken off. All in all i love the fire pit! I just wish the cover that was advertised with it was a little larger! Also... if you plan on cooking with the fire pit - you need to burn in it 3x's prior to cooking!!

5 out of 5 stars Great Fire Pit For The Price   October 27, 2007

This fire pit is sturdy and holds a lot of wood. You can really crank out a bonfire with it. We have enjoyed many nights outside with music and drinks with this fire pit that we would have otherwise spent inside watching TV. The side cut-outs and the poker make this a great buy.

4 out of 5 stars pretty decent - we like it   September 25, 2007

We bought this form a local hardware store chain - Menards - $99.99 every day price.
ours is black, which we like because so is our iron deck furniture. so it matches nicely.
it looks good sitting on the deck. up close, when putting it together, you see some flaws. little nicks here and there, the weld where the side meats the bottom. also the protective loop does not align very well. I got picky and spent a lot of time bending it here and there to make it fit tight and flush. had to do the same with the spark screen thing too. as it was so out of round, it woudl not fit on at first.

One thing, at the end of the instructions, just when you are getting excited to fire it up, they tell you to add 5lbs of sand to the bottom. the reason being, to help insulated the surface below(grass, deck, etc) from the heat, and to keep the ash form corroding the bottom of the fire pit. DARN! I wish it said make sure to buy 5lbs of sand while I was buying it at the store! now I got to go get sand.

also, do not leave it in the rain, do not allow it to fill with water as it may shorten its life - corrosion again. I think they need to anodize these things! so make sure you cover it, or put it away, out of the rain.
nice thing, it has a nice grill, as in you can use it to cook on with the supplied grill rack. Nice! and it also has a spark screen and a poker/handle to remove a hot screen with. a lot of fire pits do not include them.
