Product Description Workday mornings are a repetitive and harrowing transition from awakening, dressing, and travelling to work. Who has time to prepare a nutritious breakfast. So you end up picking it up at a deli, diner, or greasy take-out - sometimes waiting on line with all the others - and you're still running late. Back to Basics Egg and Muffin Toaster is an alternative.Need toast? You've got it. Want a poached or hard boiled egg? It's yours. And if you want them together in your favorite breakfast sandwich, the Egg&Muffin Toaster also warms your pre-cooked meat. Bingo...ready to eat in about four minutes. It's sort of the drive-thru breakfast without the drive. As a multi-function appliance, the Egg&Muffin Toaster expands the practical uses for this small electric by giving those with busy schedules more than just toast. The Egg&Muffin Toaster delivers in about four minutes a convenient and tasty morning meal that's both familiar and well liked. In addition to being a full-functioning toaster, the Egg&Muffin Toaster can simultaneously: 1) toast the bread, 2) cook an egg (poached or steam-scrambled), and 3) warm a pre-cooked slice of ham or sausage?or any combination of these three functions, in addition to boiling upto four eggs. The Egg&Muffin Toaster features wide toasting slots, an auto shut-off for individual toasting and poaching options, an easy-to-clean control touchpad, and light to dark toaster settings. It also includes a removable crumb tray for easy clean-up and cord storage. The toaster's ?Egg/Toast? function directs cooking of both items simultaneously to complete at the same time.

Ingenious Device October 10, 2008 David Jeandreau (Boston, MA USA) The Back to Basics is an excellent value, and is actually a very functional kitchen gadget that will get more use than your food processor! I am surprised it doesn't have an infomercial. Some of the other reviewers wrote about the quality of the small appliance, which is in fact part plastic. That was our only concern in purchasing this toaster/breakfast sandwich maker. However; it does everything that it is supposed to do. And we enjoy using it one or two times each morning to make a to-go breakfast for our commutes. The system properly cooks meat and eggs, ending with perfectly toasted bread. Cooking time is adjusted by the amount of water used. We find that the suggested guidelines work just fine. We have done a little experimenting with the meat in particular. It is great for sausage and Canadian Bacon. How long will it last? I would say that a year or two is reasonable for the quality/price. I am not saying that it is cheaply made, just that it is not as heavy duty as some of the more expensive brands. When compared to getting a breakfast sandwich or two at about $3-$4 each, it paid for itself in about two weeks. For the money, we find it to be an ingenious device, and a great value that makes getting out the door easy and efficient.
AWESOME....then it will break. October 9, 2008 J. Phipps (Drexel Hill, PA USA) I really enjoyed this product... while it lasted. Sadly the old adage "you get what you pay for" applies. It lasted for 7 glorious egg mc muffin-like months THEN it just stopped working. The warranty had expired and I could no longer enjoy the egg goodness. I thought it was unusual and possibly a fluke but after some research I found out that this products failure is quite common. I contacted the company to no avail they did/would not reply. SO in conclusion, great idea, terrible implementation. Oh and USE NON-STICK SPRAY! The low price clearly does not allow for teflon.
Short lived October 9, 2008 R. Tischler (Drexel Hill, PA) I received this toaster as a wedding shower present, I loved it at first. We could make the egg sandwiches you buy at fast food places, healthier and cheaper. It was wonderful. Problem is, the toaster one day died. Nothing on it worked, the computer was done. I tried contacting the company only to find out that the email they list on their site is no longer valid and the phone number gets you no where. We ended up throwing this thing out just under a year of owning it. I almost bought another one thinking it was a fluke but then read the reviews of some other people and found out it was a common problem. Some people had bought two and had both of them die. I will never buy this again because it didn't last long enough and the company doesn't seem to care.
Great toaster/Just Good egg poacher October 8, 2008 John Fahlman (Sacramento, CA) I love this gadget also. I've owned it for over two years, and I love making my own breakfast sandwiches at home. So convenient. I only wish the egg poacher portion were built as well as the toaster. The handle on the poaching tray broke off in the first year, and now the other plastic pieces are cracking. This changes my five star rating to a four star, but I'm still considering buying the four slice, two egg model!
Better than I thought it would be October 7, 2008 JAF (Eastern OH) I was a little skeptical about this, especially since the thought of eating a raw egg is not appealing to me. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this does exactly what it says. It took me a little fine tuning regarding what type of egg I wanted, determined by the amount of water added. But after that it has been a very good purchase. I enjoy this item.
