While many classic toys are now mass-produced using cheaper materials (primarily plastic), this Tonka truck's quality construction is preserved. Although the wheels and frame of this dump truck are made of plastic, it is of a heavy, durable weight and suitable for the muddy or wet territories that this truck is sure to encounter. The dump bed, however, is made of heavy-duty steel--just the way parents will remember this toy. This massive truck measures 18 inches long and is a hulking 11-1/4 inches tall with an enormous dump bed that can haul and dump overwhelming piles of dirt, cedar chips, or toys. A plastic handle on the front of the dump bed provides a sturdy grip for tilting the bed to drop a heavy load and ease the bed back to a horizontal position again. This toy has a "3 years and up" rating, not sure why. The only problem he had was getting out of the bed of it, lol. He likes sitting in the back of it. The truck is metal and very durable. Just what a rugged little boy needs. This truck should last for years. Not much educational value besides learning how to get out of the bed of it, lol.

This dump truck is much bigger than I expected- part metal and plastic, so durable and fun for the kids. The red handle allows the kids to maneuver the truck easily-- great toy to scoop up and transport the rest of their toys with. My grandchildren ages 3 and 1 love this dump truck. It is big enough for one child to sit in it while another child pushes it around. Considering the usual rough and tumble of running around like mad while pushing a "mighty dump truck" with another child sitting in it, I can definitely vouch for its toughnest. The kids may have a few scratches but not the truck.

Wow, we got it this afternoon and are very impressed:
-it's really cool looking
-the truck bed doesn't raise too easily (better for pushing around and not getting bonked in the nose accidentally)
-it's well made: no sharp edges on the metal truck bed, beefy wheels that are securely attached
-it's huge! That's a good thing, but like someone else said, probably a little overwhelming for your average sandbox. Plus, it could create a truck frenzy because every kid within 100 yards will see it and want to play with it.
My boy loves it already, Dad loves it, even Mom loves it. A++!
