Stering Fast Mounts May 28, 2008 David Montgomery (Montpelier, Vt USA) Couldn't find these in my neck of the woods anymore. Great brackets for my shop in the garage. Real heavy duty and easy to mount. You can't find a 22" bracket at your building supply stores. As usual Amazon had access to them and got them to me quickly
The best shelving system ever! August 6, 2007 John D. Purson (Santa Fe, NM United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have about 600 linear feet of shelving held up by various sizes of Fast-Mount brackets. I first discovered them at Home Depot but they discontinued them after about a year. My shelving projects take a long time to build and I often change the configuration. I refused to switch to a non-supported shelf bracket system and found that Amazon carries many of the Fast-Mount products (all except the 6' wall brackets). The price was on par with Home Depot and I didn't need to drive 70 miles to pick them up - plus, no sales tax! I ordered about 6 dozen shelf brackets of various sizes and more 4' wall brackets than I think I'll ever need. I have most often used the 2' deep shelf brackets spaced at 32" centers mounted on the 6' wall brackets. Along one 16 foot wall of my garage, I store more than 2000 pounds of lumber (on 5 levels) with no hint of strain. One note of caution: I anchored the wall brackets into the studs using 6"x 5/16" lag bolts because I knew I would have a huge load on them. This is way beyond the normal 3"x 3/16" screws that I use most places. The secret to the strength is the angled supports under the shelf bracket. I called the John Sterling Company, maker of the Fast Mount system and inquired about the size differences between the shelf and wall brackets purchased from Home Depot a year earlier and those from Amazon. The Amazon shelf brackets were about an inch shorter and the wall brackets were about a quarter inch smaller (mounts closer to the wall). They explained that the cost of steel had risen so much that instead of charging more for their products, they chose to cut down on the sizes a little without compromising the load rating. They are apparently correct. I find no difference in performance and the older products are compatible for the most part with the new ones. Shipments of these rather heavy items came in very small packages, often one wall bracket at a time. Each one of 40 brackets was carefully wrapped and labeled individually. Except for disposing of the huge cardboard pile after unwrapping, it was LOTS easier than going to Home Depot. I just hope Amazon will continue to carry Fast-Mount products for many years to come so I can supply my next shelf project.

I was unhappy for the freight charge on this item when it was shipped with other items.
Great for lumber storage April 28, 2007 Charles (Burlington, VT United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I put this up about 3 years ago in my shop. I lag-bolted the verticals to studs (one vertical on each stud), and put these shelf brackets on without any shelving. This makes a near perfect lumber storage rack. The system can probably hold a thousand pounds, and I can adjust it as I need it. After three years there is no evidence that it was anything other than a great choice. My one question. I bought these brackets this year to add a new row to the system. I ordered six. Now WHY did Amazon think I needed each one in its own separate box? Imagine my surprise coming home to a 5 foot stack of 6 24 X 18 boxes on my doorstep! And now I have to recycle all that stuff. . .
