Amazon.com It's easy to see why this drill was rated a 2006 "best buy" by a leading consumer magazine. Impressively compact, lightweight, and comfortable to use, Panasonic's 15.6-volt drill/driver fits into tight spaces where other bulkier drills won't. The 3-1/2 amp NiMH batteries deliver remarkable run time per charge, which is a big plus, especially if you need a tool for continuous use. What about power? This Panasonic packs up to 390 inch-pounds of torque--as much (if not more) than anyone needs in a cordless tool. The motor's speed control allows full torque at any speed, so you can apply full torque while still maintaining control.p The tool features dual speed ranges of 65 to 450 and 200 to 1,450 rpm. The 1/2-inch chuck takes bigger bits. The first thing you notice about this tool, however, is how compact it is (the chassis measures only 8-1/2 inches) and how comfortable it feels in your hand. The soft-pad grip provides extra cushion and the tool's balance is superb, two important features if you wield a cordless day in and day out. The tool lacks an onboard bit holder, but that's about all it lacks. The 3-1/2 amp batteries are ventilated, so they last longer, delivering up to 1,200 charges and recharges.p This drill is a smart buy for plumbers, electricians, carpenters, and even woodworkers--in short, anyone who wants a small, compact drill that packs a lot of torque and is built to last. The package includes a 55-minute universal charger and hard-plastic carrying case. i--Jon Groebner/i

What more can I add?! Batteries are the BEST January 4, 2009 S. Benefield (Ada, OK United States) Bought this in December '07 (it is now Jan. 2009) and have used it regularly. The batteries hold a charge like no other tool I've ever used. I just finished a day of drilling 3/4" holes in 2x6 plates and studs with this drill on a single battery that is over a year and a half old. Went all day without giving out even while drilling up to three plates thick. So impressed that I had to write this quick review. The best drill I have ever owned - period!
Warranty issues December 27, 2008 Robert Weaver (North Conway, NH) I bought this drill in June 08 and gave it limited use. I was boring through a 2x6 to run some electrical wire and the clutch broke. The spade bit was new and the wood soft, so I was surprised. I sent it out to be repaired and it has been over a month and the facility still doesn't have the replacement parts. Disappointing.
5 years and still useable December 13, 2008 Robert T. Snyder (indiana) I use this as a household drill and occasionally construction projects (screwing sheetmetal on a polebarn "lots of screws"). Under extreme use (pole barn screwing) the drill can get warm. Torque is sufficient for almost everything (drilling 1" spade bit through 3" wall header took its toll and I finally went to a corded 1/2" drill. batteries after 5 years are still working but have lost about half their capacity. They are very usable though and both recharge fast. The brake portion of the trigger switch went out after 3 years which was irritating. br /something to look for is a drill that LOCKS when idle so you can use the drill as a manual screwdriver for that last 1/8 turn on the drywall screw. Some cheaper drills don't lock and I wont have one that wont.. br /Its been a good drill but I may try something different since I'm ready to replace this and the cost has not gone down...
Panasonic November 22, 2008 Michael A. Sandling There is no doubt in my mind that Panasonic has the longest lasing batteries on the market. I've had all different brands and since I've owned this one I'll never buy anything else. br /Mike
Panasonic 15.6v November 2, 2008 Michael Hendricks This is a great drill. I have purchased 4. The main reason, it was a better deal to buy an entire kit rather than a relacement bat. and charger.
