All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. I have a high dollar set of Wusthoff Trident kitchen knives that I was always scared to run through a mechanical sharpener. After wasting many hours and dollars on trying to manually sharpen these using wetstones, Lansky sharpeners, etc. I was never able to get the edge like original. About 2 minutes on each knife through this sharpener restored the blades to like new. The sharpener doesnt get hot enough to damage the blade, and I didnt have any issues with sparks. Some reviews I read earlier complained about the wheels stopping and not having enough power. This is by design to prevent damage to your blades. I never had an issue with the wheels stopping. You would have to be heavy handed and not read the instructions to have a problem with this item. I love it. Best investment I made for my high dollar knives. I use the knives every day, so I need them sharp. I will probably buy another one for later use at my vacation home. GREAT PRODUCT!!! PLEASED CUSTOMER!!!

Was a little leary about this product but upon receipt and reading the directions carefully as previous reviewers had specified I am so happy with everything about it. To whomever said the motor kept stopping - it's in the directions - you're putting too much pressure on the knife - let the product do it's job!! Highly recommend this sharpener.

The Presto Pro EverSharp works quite well. Because I have always "sort of" sharpened my knives, I was able to skip "Stage 1." For such a small sharpener, I am completely satisfied with how it sharpens and it is easy to store.

Very simple to use. It will remove a lot of metal if used too frequently but I can't see using this sharpener but once or twice a year even under heavy use.
