3 out of 5 stars good idea...   November 27, 2008
Micah J. Chaney (Pittsburgh, PA)
I bought this about 4 months ago, and I loved it. There are a ton of hex heads. The magnet is nice, you can slap the holder any where, and it sticks. br / br /However, I won't purchase this again. Its a pain in the butt to constantly have to rotate the head around to find your bit. If you are in low light, its difficult to tell which bit you want. You end up shaking the thing, trying to get the bit out. br / br /Next time, I will purchase a a box that opens. It is so much easier and quicker to find the bits you need.

4 out of 5 stars I bought it at 3 bucks so it's hard to complain but I will anyway.   November 4, 2008

It's cheaply made. That's a sticker on the top of it, not the logo stamped on plastic and the color of my sticker doesn't match the case. The driver guide isn't the one pictured and I didn't really like the action on mine (something scratches the inner cylinder as it moves back and forth. I have an identical Chinese-made DeWalt driver-guide I got from a hex bit kit with slightly smoother action. br / br /I criticized another reviewer for complaining about 7 identical bits, not realizing that the bit types and sizes are actually stamped in the plastic which bugs me more for some reason, as labeling it wrong makes it seem like a dumber thing to do. br / br /It's also taller than I imagined. The bits are sitting at an angle and there is some additional clearance on the bottom beyond that so it's just a touch big for putting in your jeans pocket. I'd guess it's ~1.5 inches high. br / br /The magnet is just not-quite powerful enough for my taste. It sticks to the side of a metal toolbox just fine but not with enough strength to avoid sliding down. Just a scotch more and it would be good. That should be easily upgraded though. br / br /That said, I still like the design. It's a practical and reasonably compact way to carry bits around and fits fine in a coat pocket. The way it dispenses bits makes it easier to remember to put stuff back before reaching for another one and is faster and less messy than fishing around in a box. I'm unwilling to test it but the plastic seems to be of reasonable enough quality that you could drop it from 10' and not be surprised if nothing shattered. br / br /I'd give it 2-3 star rating for mediocrity but hey, 3 bucks. Even at 10-12 bucks you're getting a fair number of hex bits that aren't redundant and a decent dohickey for selecting and storing them. It's just disappointing because it doesn't have that same Milwaukee feel that you get when you first see one of their metal drill bit cases. I'm guessing it's cheap because it's discontinued or is just not selling and I can see why. People buy Milwaukee because they like quality. This is practical and cheap but definitely not high quality.

Seven of the twenty pieces are #2 Phillips???? If you are looking for a do it all kit, keep looking. However, if you find yourself wearing out high strength steel #2 Phillips bits then this kit may be for you.

5 out of 5 stars Dialed-in drill bits   August 20, 2008
Curtis A. Halstead (san francisco)
AWESOME.Bit holder~extendable!,the sleeve pulls-out to keep drill action on the fastener head, without slipping off easily. Bits are indexed well, secure enough in case, visible thru window(case shell rotates independently from base. Magnet on back of case attaches to my tool cabinet securely.

4 out of 5 stars convenience at its best   June 18, 2008

I bought 2 of them when amazon had them for $2.99, one for my father and one for myself. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because of how small the labeling text is for each bit.
