 Work great and less filling! March 18, 2006

I replaced the original Powermatic knives on my 60B jointer with the Amana knives recently. They are doing what they are supposed to do and seem to be staying sharp longer than the original knives did. With any jointer/planer you have to be real careful setting them up even with the outfeed table. I recommend using a dial indicator or other machinist type gage to make the job faster and more accurate. It is also nice to have a back up set of sharp knives available while sharpening the others. I bought two sets of the Amana knives for that reason. Amana makes good products.

I replaced the original knives in a Powermatic 8" jointer with this set. I adjusted the depth of each knife as carefully as I could and the glassy smooth surface the jointer now produces is unbelievable. Far better than when it was new. I cannot say for sure if it is all due to the knives (maybe original set weren't adjusted at the factory as carefully as I did), but the knives certainly are part of it.
