 Very Strong Workbench November 30, 2008

I built my workbench 6 x 2.5 FT. I used 1/2 plywood for the bottom shelf and 3/4 plywood for the middle and work surface. The result is a very strong workbench. Note that the vertical space between shelfs is small (bottom: 11 1/4", middle: 8 1/2") so I modified my workbench by doing the middle shelf halfway (see customer image). I used some galvanized brackets to support this modification. As a result I now have 23 3/4" of vertical clearance on one side of the workbench. This allows me to fit big items like a compressor. I had all the 2x4's and plywood cut at my local home depot which I highly recommend to ensure that the measurement are very exact. br /PRO: br /-Strength br /-Cost: Around $150 (wood, pegboard, and brackets) + kit br /-Easy to build br /-Usability br /CONS: br /-Legs do not have leveling feet so you must improvise to make it level if your garage or shop floor is not leveled

I bought the 2x4 workbench and shelf combination and built a copy of bench I saw done by a previous customer. Like others who noted the same, it is relatively easy to build although the directions are pictures and no helpful words. The kit does not come with a "cut list" which is a needless oversight. You can find one on the Finley website under customer input but it should be a part of the assembly materials.All in all a good experience and I would recommend. Would also suggest thinking about how to finish the wood you select in advance of assembly and some suggestions on options of various types of wood would be helpful as well.

I finally made my perfet 60" x 36" work bench just the way I wanted at less than half the expense I was expecting. This kit is an awesome solution that leaves the guesswork out when it comes to building your own bench to your custom dimensions. Coudn't be more satisfied.

I was in the market for a workbench and was looking for something that is the correct dimensions to fit into the space I was desigining, is very solid, and has shelving for storage. This is the perfect product to satisfy these needs. br / br /Since you supply the lumber, you can create any dimension workbench that you desire. Mine is 7' x 30" and fits perfectly into my workshop. It took me about two hours to assemble from opening the box to the final screw. The bench is extremely solid and easily holds the weight of all the bench tools and wood stock I store on it. There is no wobble whatsoever. The shelving is perfect for storing 2x4 stock, plywood boards, and some hand tools. br / br /The 6 shelf links included are excellent for building a hutch to store parts drawers and other accessories. The kit also comes with some resin hooks for hanging tools, etc. br / br /I think this is a great product for a great price. br / br /

Setting this up was a snap! I made a 8'x30" bench with a peg board backing. br / br /I can't say enough about how fast and easy this set up. br / br /I used 14 8' 2x4's, one shelf made of OSB and for the work top I used 4x8 sheet of oak plywood. It's great to have a place to work! br /
