Simple and Works . . . November 16, 2008 A. D. S. Garcia (Mexico City, D.F. Mexico) I have used other brands and other models, but this tester works at a good range limiting false negatives and and is easy to operate.
Mine was defective - and dangerous November 12, 2008 coyotedogwolf (Maryland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This unit generally gets good reviews, but mine was defective and therefore, dangerous. br / br /It chirps and lights when even close to any hot switches or outlets. Users should be able to use these types of testers to differentiate hot wires from neutral or dead. Mine chirps around all wires dead or alive. It even chirps around objects unattached to any circuits...like my coffee cup! It's true, it chirps madly at my coffee cup! br / br /I didn't buy it to see if my coffee is "hot". I can do that with my lips! br / br /So, buy it if you want, but don't be surprised when you have to put your electrical work on hold and cough up postage to return it for a replacement.
Gardner-Bender GVD-504A non-contact circuit tester September 30, 2008 Diana Lynne Byrum (Santa Barbara, CA) With this handy tool, I was able to determine that a light bulb in a recently purchased lamp was faulty and not the lamp switch. The light would repeatedly go out. When I touched the 3-way switch, the light would go on. I placed the tool near the switch, not even touching it and determined that the switch was getting a continued flow of electricty, even when the light bulb would go out. A Quick and easy test, thank you
Gardner Bender GVD-504A CircuitVoltage Tester September 21, 2008 Thomas Z. Scales I've used this voltage tester several times and it seems to operate as advertised. I had to "get the hang" of using it to ensure I was on target.
Works great, just wish it were longer... September 10, 2008 George Gonzalez (Miami, FL) Alright, get your mind out of the gutter. I mean I wish this was long enough to test ceiling mounted outlets and fixtures without having to get on a ladder.
