| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Product Review The Scott's classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There's no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

Great on everything except weeds December 1, 2008 Trevor Stiles I purchased this mower at the beginning of summer, 2008, after reading a lot of reviews all around. On the whole, my experience has been very positive. This mower is easy to push---it's just as easy as any other push mower I've ever used. It's low maintenance. You don't have to mess with gas and oil. It isn't noisy, it isn't generating a ton of noxious emissions, it isn't throwing up dust (for those of us who suffer from allergies, this is a big deal). br / br /Set up was a snap. Using it is simple. The only drawback is that this mower doesn't handle tall weeds (6") very well at all. I had to go through with a weedwacker to get those. Also, it's tough to get right up next to a curb. Other than that, I have no complaints (even though I have gotten many strange looks and questions about it).
Quiet mowing November 22, 2008 A. Anderson (Southern California) I got this mower when my electric one broke, and I've used it a couple of times now. Firstly, it cuts the grass very well so there are fewer brown tips (the day after). Secondly, it very easy to push and maneuver around. Since my old mower was out of commission the grass was very tall when I finally got this new one. My experience with this tall grass was that the reel mower would bog down after a few feet and needs to be backed up and charged forward again. After an initial pass it got much easier to push, but the cutting was still uneven. After a second pass things got much nicer. Overall, I think I went over the yard 4 times to get a perfect cut. Now that the grass is not overgrown, one pass is enough, and I've got 2K sq ft to cut. br / br /Pros: Easier to push than a heavier gas or electric mower. Cleaner cut. Quiet. Finely cut grass acts as mulch. br /Cons: Harder to mow when grass is very tall. Not good on uneven ground, like near lawn / planting bed borders. br / br /This mower performed as advertised, feels durable, and I am happy with it.
so far, so good November 19, 2008 L. Hamel Just got it for our new home which has about a quarter acre lawn. It took about a half hour to get all unpacked and put together, and when I started mowing my wife decided it looked fun so she mowed the lawn. I've only used it once, but it cuts and rolls great and is easy to adjust cutting height. I looked around about an hour online and this seemed to get the best reviews. Now it's snowing so I won't have to mow for a few months. Will update if there are any issues...
All I thought it would be October 31, 2008 B. Joan Nowery I am extremely happy with this lawn mower. The wide width makes cutting the grass faster. Surprisingly I am still able to get close to my many plants and trees. 1) It is also easy to push - it's really not your grandfather's mower, 2) the heighth adjustment makes it more versatile, 3) No gasoline to buy and no fumes to inhale, 4) no winterizing is needed, 5) environment-friendly, 6) the light weight makes me able to carry it into the basement for winter storage, and last but not least, my lawn looks much better cut instead of chewed.
good when cutting short grass, but a pain with tall grass October 17, 2008 Y. Chen we bought this when we moved into our new house where seemed like no one had taken care of the lawn after the purchase agreement was signed. It did not work at all because of the tall grass. It simply pushed them down without cutting any. We bought a gas mower right away to save the pain-(: However, we are keeping this one and use it sometime, it works fine when the grass is a little bit taller than what you wnat them to be, not as clear-cut as the gas mower though, but no noise at all, we can use it around the house when our baby is asleep.
