Product Description Too many HDMI devices and not enough ports on your HDTV to connect them? Most displays only offer one or two HDMI ports, which isn't enough to support all of your devices. This 4-port HDMI switcher is a simple solution that lets you connect up to four devices to a single HDMI port on your TV.Simply connect your devices - cable/satellite box, Apple TV, DVD player, gaming console, etc. - to the input ports on the switcher. Then, connect the switcher to your display using a single HDMI-HDMI cable. It's that easy. You can switch between devices using the included infrared remote, your own universal remote, or the button on the front of the unit. An LED on the front of the unit will indicate which source you have selected. The XtremeHD HDMI 4 to 1 switcher is built with the highest quality components so you get the best quality audio/video signals from all of your devices - up to 1080p resolution. Now that's simple.

Junk! November 25, 2008 Rick S. (Florida, USA) I tried two of these units. I couldn't get the first one to work because I didn't realize that all attached equipment must be hooked up and must be "turned on" also. To me it seems ridiculous that a piece of electronic equipment doesn't just power up when switched on like every other piece of equipment I've ever owned. I spoke to their tech support and they said it had something to do with internal relays. Bad design. br /Second try. Seemed to work OK but it constantly caused my DirecTV box to lock up requiring a reset. Then it started turning off at random and I couldn't get it turned back on (even with all the equipment turned on). Because I couldn't turn it on when I wanted to it became unusable. Also, I have an Apple TV an like the fact that it stacked nicely with it and looked similar. However the Apple TV is aluminum and I really thought the HDMI switcher would be too. But it is silver PLASTIC and therefore not the same exact color and texture as the ATV. Also although the shape is very close it is not exactly the same. This may be a minor complaint for some but I feel like they realy promote the fact that it "matches" the Apple TV and was dissapointed that it really doesn't. Bottom line is I returned it and will be looking into other brands of switchers. I really wanted to like this unit but it just doesn't cut it for me. I see some others seem to really like it. They obviously have had a better experience and perhaps don't use it with a DirecTV box.
DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM October 25, 2008 Ian Michael Hamilton (Los Angeles, CA) XtremeMac has recently been bought by a larger company. Their customer service, in a word, is TERRIBLE. br /I have 2 of their switchers. The one in the family room has worked flawlessly. The one in the bedroom with Apple TV FAILED after a few months. I placed it underneath the Apple TV box (same exact form factor, designed to stack) and the intense heat from the Apple TV COOKED IT. This is not mentioned anywhere in their literature or on their website. I have been trying to get a replacement unit (which they agreed to do at no charge) since JUNE 2008! They said they have none in stock then and it is now November and they still say they have NONE IN STOCK. I have gotten a run around every time I called them including today, when I asked for a refund so I can buy some other brand on the web. Every time I call I get a different story. E-mails are ignored. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, REPEAT, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Beware if you have a Samsung HDTV October 11, 2008 Robert H. Wullner (Contra Costa, CA USA) Beware if you have a Samsung TV as this does not work. Something to do with the copy protection on the HDMI connection. I bought and returned and have yet to receive my credit (Company is going through an acquisition with Imation) I bought the OPPO HDMI switcher and it works like a charm. Now if I can only get my money back from Xtrememac as they sent me an RMA number, I sent it back and now they just take my name and do nothing. Beware....
Didn't pass PS3 through in 1080P October 3, 2008 Nathan Gaudreau (USA) The only reason I gave this 2 stars is because it looks decent and worked with things under 1080p. br / br /I plugged in my PS3 into every input port in the back and the TV would not recognize is in 1080p. The only time I could pass through the signal is if I set the PS3 to pass through in 1080i. br / br /Just to make sure, I plugged the PS3 directly into the same HDMI port on the TV as I was plugging the switcher into, and it would recognize the signal in 1080p, so I know it's not the TV. Plus, I just got a new Samsung PN58A650. br / br /Anyway, I called XTremeMac support and they told me that recently there have been problems with the TV recognizing the switcher between the items you are plugging into it and the TV, so that is causing the problem. I don't know why that would cause the problem, but I guess the switcher should be unrecognizable to the TV according to them, and it doesn't do that in the latest batch of these switchers. br / br /[...] br / br /Good luck to everyone.
ok October 3, 2008 Z. Ahmed (IL) Works great but a lot of times it doesnt respond to power on/off you have to unplug and replug from power outlet and it starts working..... br / br / br /
