5 out of 5 stars Great Product!   December 1, 2008

Great product. Purchased it because of rating on Consumer Reports. Replaced my Rowenta which I paid twice the money for and this iron is way better. Would recommend (and I have to all my friend family)

4 out of 5 stars Black And Decker 2030 Digital Advantage Iron - Some Small Issues, But Nice Value   November 29, 2008

br /The Black Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron has a lot of nice design elements and good performance. Most of all, this unit is priced very well for the included features. Of course along with that come a few things that could have been improved. Some may opt for a higher end model, but for most people this unit's flaws should be overshadowed by the positives. br / br /I have used more irons that would be considered *budget models* than those that could be considered *premium models*. I am aware that some brands, like Rowenta, seem to have a very loyal following. However, being very value focused I have yet to take the plunge with any of those much more expensive models. So my comments come from a user who wants the best value for the money. I am willing to accept this iron's flaws because it performs so well given the price. br / br /PROS: br /+ The iron heats up quickly and alerts you with a *beep* when it's hot br /+ The weight of the iron seems evenly distributed and easily glides over clothes br /+ The cord has a rotating base that allows it stay out of the way as you iron br /+ A nice screen clearly displays the fabric number you select with the simple controls br /+ The water reservoir seems to hold more than some of the other units I tried br /+ Produces nice steam, though adjustable wheel gives less than ideal volume control br /+ Also squirts water with the push of a button br /+ A convenient red LED on the handle lets you know that the iron is plugged in br /+ The unit gives a warning beep and automatically shuts off when not in use br /+ Included 1 yr warrantee gives some peace of mind br /+ The price seems very reasonable compared to a few other irons I tried and returned before settling on this one br / br /CONS: br /- Refill water with caution because the cover does seem poorly made br /- There might be a shorter life with the electronic controls than plain old knobs br /- Changing settings goes in order, so to change from 6 to 5, you have to go through 1-4 br /- May feel a little heavy to some people br /- The unit beeps every time you change a setting, which can get annoying br /- The steam adjustment wheel seems to go from "off" to "on" with only a little variation br / br / br /Like all irons I have used, it may feel heavy for some people. I like the overall feel, and think that the weight helps with thicker fabrics. I know there are steamers that are much lighter, and some people may prefer that. br / br /Considering the digital controls, nice steam and quick heat up time, this is a great value. I do worry about how long some of those electronics may last. On my old iron, I never had to worry about those types of parts failing. But hopefully with careful handling and storage this unit should last a long time. br / br /Enjoy. br /

5 out of 5 stars The best iron I have ever owned ( and I'm over 50 and iron daily!)   November 26, 2008
Family of 5 (Monterey County, Calif.)
My daughter in college needed an iron so I decided to give her mine and get a "better" one for home - even though the Black and Decker we owned was OK...went on Consumer Reports reviews recommendation and we can't be more satisfied! THANK YOU - both Consumer Report and Amazon for stocking it!

5 out of 5 stars Best iron yet!   November 26, 2008
Diana Jong (Boston, MA USA)
My best friend told me several months ago that my iron sucked. It was the first iron I had owned out of college, and I didn't know any better. I was given an iron as a gift - a Shark - and it was even worse than the one I had. Then I bought this one off of Amazon based on the reviews and the price. And I have to say, I had no idea ironing was so fun! First of all, it doesn't take hours to get the wrinkles out. One or two passes of the iron, and the wrinkles are gone! Second, unlike the Shark, this iron doesn't rust when you leave water inside. The instructions explicitly say you don't have to empty the iron! I mean, I barely have time to iron in the morning. I certainly don't have time to be running back and forth to the sink. I've only owned the iron for a week, but it's great! The only negative is that a light stays on when the iron remains plugged in. Since the plug in the room where I iron isn't in the most convenient location, I like to leave the iron plugged in. However, this iron has an enormous red light that stays on even when the iron is off.

5 out of 5 stars Saves ironing time.   November 26, 2008

Surprisingly, it is an efficient iron; it gets wrinkles out faster, so you can move on to other fun activities.
