5 out of 5 stars works as expected   August 8, 2008
Lucas Holt (Ann Arbor, MI USA)
These work just like the originals that came with my humidifier. They do help keep mineral buildup off the "heater".

3 out of 5 stars warm mist humidifier   May 1, 2008
Timothy M. Johnson (Decatur, GA USA)
Very compact unit, competitive pricing, relatively quiet and fast operation. 4 gallon capacity reduces frequency of refilling. Simple touch controls for adjusting humidistat (digital read-out), duration of operation, and rate of humidity output are very useful features. Unfortunately, after about 2 weeks of intermittent use, the humidistat control malfunctioned. I contacted the manufacturer and was pleased to know that repair/replacement would not be a problem (under warranty). I have experienced no other problems with this unit. Proper maintenance is required for normal operation. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a quiet, effective and reasonably priced humidifier. br /

5 out of 5 stars Never got to use the replacement pads   March 28, 2008
DMan3 (Cincinnati, OH USA)
I own the HWM-450 humidifier. Or maybe I should say "owned." It worked very well for me for most of two heating seasons, then went belly-up abruptly--right after I received (but never used) the replacement absorption pads. The original pads, which I'm pretty sure are identical to the replacements, worked very well. I found they could be re-used several times if soaked in vinegar and rinsed. They definitely seemed to help extend the time between cleanings.

5 out of 5 stars You NEED These   February 26, 2008
Katie (Old Hickory, TN)
Honeywell HMP-12P QuickSteam Mineral Absorption Pad, 12 Pack br /Great Product! If you do not have a home water softener, or the desire to buy distilled water at 2 gallons per day, you NEED these Mineral Absorption pads. I've run my unit 24/7 with the exception of cleaning and refilling - all winter. With the pads, the cleaning is easy, very little mineral deposit inside the base. With an old pad or without one at all, what a mess - thick crusty hard water deposits built up everywhere inside the base! br / br /However, I do think somewhere in the information about this product it should be said that these are the 3 1/4" pads.

3 out of 5 stars Doesn't really work   February 26, 2008
Troy Simpkins (Nashville, TN)
Very little of the mineral build up adheres to the pad. It seems it must float above the heating element, because 90% of build up occurs on the heating element with another 8 percent building up on the plastic surrounding the heating element.
