Amazon.com Product Review
How much do you know about LED lights? These things are incredible-they use hardly any power, yet kick out a huge amount of light for their size. Also, LEDs are built inside a solid case, which makes them much more durable than incandescent lights and their easily-shattered glass bulbs. And they have a huge lifespan: while the average incandescent bulb may last-at best-50,000 hours before it burns out, an LED can last 100,000 hours or more.pThis is why it's exciting to manufacturers starting to use this technology in flashlights. How many times have you really needed to use your flashlight, only to find that the batteries are dead or that the bulb is burnt out or broken? Gerber's Infinity Ultra ups the reliability factor with its LED technology that, according to them, will last 100 hours or more on the included AA batteries. This thing is sturdy too-Gerber coats its circuitry with epoxy, which holds everything in place if you drop it or accidentally smack it against a rock.pThe company claims that the Infinity Ultra is waterproof down to 10 feet. Not having access to 10 feet of water, I filled up my bathtub and dropped it in there for a minute or so. Sure enough, the flashlight still worked, and without any noticeable lack of brilliance.pThough the Infinity Ultra's beam is very bright for its size, this is not the best flashlight for navigating unlit country roads at night or for exploring abandoned warehouses. It is perfect for camping, however, where its durability, small size, and light weight make it ideal for hauling in a pack and illuminating a tent. pOverall, a great little product from a reliable manufacturer.I--Josh Dettweiler/IpbWhat's in the Box/bbrOne AA batteryp

5 out of 5 stars Best 'Lil Light there is.   November 12, 2008
David J. Brown (Lisle, NY USA)
Very simply put, this is the best little flashlight around. Extremely bright--wide coverage of light beam with one LED and a lens. br / br /It uses one cell that lasts forever. I have three of the lights, one of which stays in the car's glovebox. br / br /This one actually out performs my nine LED unit. Easy to carry with you.

4 out of 5 stars Gerber Infinity Ultra Task LED flashlight   November 7, 2008

Lightweight and plenty of light. Kids seem to love it, maybe someday I'll get to use it.

5 out of 5 stars Big light in a small package   October 26, 2008
Mr. Slate (Lincoln, NE USA)
I purchased this flashlight as an upgrade to my trusty CMG Infinity flashlight that I have used for about 5 years. Gerber now owns CMG but has retained the form factor of the infinity light. Specs and techno babble aside, the Infinity Ultra offers about twice the light of the original Infinity in my subjective opinion. I keep the flashlight clipped to my cell phone holster and use it very regularly for peering into nooks and crannies of real estate that is being evaluated for purchase. The difference between the two is amazing considering that they are the same size and weight. If you are seeking a light weight, durable, bright for its size flashlight with a small form factor, you need not look further.

4 out of 5 stars nice little light   October 17, 2008

I have carried a small flashlight in my pocket for a decade or more; it helps me (a "senior citizen") see small things in "normal light" and if I'm fussing with a car it helps there, and...well, I'm lost without a small flashlight. I used Mini-Maglights until I found their LED version to be very unreliable. I bought a Dorcy set at Costco, very nice, but bulky and a bit longer range than I really needed. Then I bought this thing from Amazon. br / br /Shazam! (as Captain Marvel used to say, back 50-60 years agoG) br / br /Small, it clips on my belt/pocket edge, so far it doesn't get pushed ON in my pocket (like the Dorcy does). br / br /Not the best for looking 50-100 feet, but if you want to see what you want to look at in a 0-30 foot area, this unit is great. I've already put it back into my wish list for the next time I buy from Amazon. br / br /Nice product and I like mine! Great for mechanics and others working in unlighted places (small to hold in your mouth when you need to), if you wanted to you could do Morse Code (even with unit off, push the back, it flashes on, release, it is off)

4 out of 5 stars well suited for its purpose   October 10, 2008

Well made, durable and pocketable, the Infinity Ultra definitely fulfills its purpose as a low light, minimal size flashlight. I have used this light for several years and have gotten excellent battery life without a single LED failure. Not intended for illuminating distant objects, it serves well as a go everywhere small light source. br /LED is well focused with only a slight blue shift in the color spectrum. br /The case is charcoal anodized aluminum which is only lacking in a knurling or non-slip surface. Handling when wet can be difficult. br /On-off function is by turning the bottom portion of the case. br /The light comes with a belt clip, as well as a lanyard hole in the end cap. br /Battery changing is simple (positive end of the AA battery goes in first) and there is a o-ring seal at the end cap to provide a degree of water resistance. Light is not rated as underwater useable, nor would the light output be appropriate for such a use. br /I have carried this light to job sites (on those occasions when a larger flashlight was not anticipated) just for insurance sake. On numerous occasions I have used it to read electrical panels, illuminate dark stairwells, etc. Just don't expect the light output to equal a larger flashlight. br /The only sad part is the light is now made in China.
