Amazon.com Product Description Is your mailbox out of the line of sight of your house? Do you spend a lot of time away from home? Concerned that someone's going to swipe your Pottery Barn catalog? MailGuard's security mailbox may be the solution to your problems. Made of sturdy, impact-resistant polyethylene plastic, this mailbox will hold several days' worth of mail (up to 2,000 cubic inches) securely in a locked storage compartment. The mail slot is unlocked, so your mailman won't need a key, and is large enough to accept bigger packages. Delivered mail drops down an angled chute to the bottom of the locked, waterproof container-safely out of reach. When you're ready to retrieve your mail, simply use your key to unlock the storage area door.I--Josh Dettweiler/IpbWhat's in the Box/bbrMailbox, keyp
Amazon.com Review What more can you ask for? MailGuard's security mailbox can't be vandalized, crushed, dented, scraped, scratched, or smashed, and that's not even its best feature. It also holds a ton of mail securely and can only be accessed with your key, though the letter carrier doesn't need one to deliver your mail. It's an ingenious design that offers some 2,000 cubic inches of storage, so when you're away for two weeks, your neighbor won't have to trot over to pick up your mail, and would-be burglars can't tell what's in it. Because it's made of a super-strong polyethylene plastic, you'll never have to paint it, sand it, rustproof it, or repair it. You can mount this beauty on a post or wall--hardware is included for each. With this box out front, you won't have to worry about mail security again. I--Kris Jensen-Van Heste/I

Security Mailbox June 23, 2008 J. Halsell (North Louisiana) This mailbox works as described, but my rural postman did not like the little extra effort he had to make to place the mail through the slot, so I went back to a conventional mailbox.
Does the job February 15, 2008 William W. Perry (Lubbock, TX USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must admit that I was disappointed. This mailbox does the job, but is not all that I expected. It is made of "space-age polymers" (plastic). It's very lightweight and has a cheap feel to it's consistency. The price paid for this hunk of plastic seems a bit high. I actually cut my arm on one of the plastic edges while installing this box. br / br / However, it does the job effectively so it's not a total loss. As someone else pointed out, the lock is of good quality, unlike some other units out there. Size is definitely a big factor. My wife and I are on the road a lot, so it's helpful to know that we don't have to trust the USPS to forward our mail, as this box is big enough to hold a month's worth of mail if necessary. br / br / BOTTOM LINE: If I had found this box in a store and had a chance to handle it before purchase, I probably wouldn't have bought it. That being said, it's a much better option than I had before. It'll do, but it's not the "cat's meow".
Works great January 28, 2008 T. Norton (Southern California) We have found this to be an excellent product and despite another review I read, we have only had slightly wet mail once during a virtually horizontal rain storm (and of course it could have gotten wet before it went in the box!) It's easy to use and holds A LOT. The ONLY problem that we've had is when an idiot neighbor thinks it's the outgoing mail box and puts their outgoing mail in it...
MailGuard Secure and Safe November 8, 2007 Jacque Ham (Holt, FL) Our Mailman suggested the MailGuard Security Mailbox. We installed it on a brick wall at our business. Now we feel secure with mailing/receiving when we are not at work. It has plenty of storage and even kept our mail dry during 20" of rain! br /Thank you, jk
Read reviews before installing June 28, 2007 SuMaya (Pensacola FL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Our neighborhood had a rash of mail theft followed by ID credit card fraud. Since then, many of us have purchased locking boxes or rented P.O. boxes. I got this locking box after seeing it at a nearby home. Reading the reviews gave us all the tips we needed to install the box properly. It is very large, so we used a 4X6 post rather than the recommended 4X4. The top door is a bit tight, so our mail carrier does not always close it. I am using my nail file to shave just a bit of plastic off every time I check my mail. br /br /I am curious about how this unique profile will withstand a hurricane. I hope I don't have to find out!
