Serves The Purpose November 25, 2008 C. Bermudez (Ny, Ny) I was very excited to use these items. When I got them, my family and I traveled from Jersey City to Carolina Beach, NC, 10-hour trip, and carried our 2 bikes in our our spare tire. These items are rock solid because my bikes didn't sway/move considering the strong drag and long travel. These tighten the hold/grip of my bikes to my thule rack.
functional addition to rack August 28, 2008 J. Phillips (upper, IL) I bought these to use with my Thule Roadway rack, they come 2 per package. I read the review noting the possible frame tube scratches and decided to be pro-active. I used some left over bartape and placed that over the hard plastic where the frame tube rests against. These cages work great to hold the bikes in place. I use the Thule strap that came with the rack to hold the front wheel in position during transport. br /It is true that these cages don't lock to the rack so they could be stolen, but at least they are on the lower cost side of Thule's accesories and easy to replace.
Simple and they work. April 24, 2008 John Owen (Southeastern, Mass) This is a simple addition to a trailer hitch that really works. The package contains two which is enough for two bikes.
If you have the Thule Spare Tire Bike Rack... January 7, 2008 R. Kupferberg (Atlanta, GA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you have the Spare Tire Rack, as I do for my Jeep Wrangler, the Model 955 "stabilizer" is a must-have. It works perfectly and does what it has to do - keeps the bike from swaying back and forth over any kind of terrain. I would highly recommend it, and it's worth the price.
Works -- but EATS PAINT October 27, 2007 J. A. Thomas 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought a couple of these for our Thule rack. While they do indeed work, they also chew up the paint on the seat tube pretty badly (for non-experts in bike frame anatomy, the seat tube is the vertical part of the bike frame below the seat post). I wish someone had mentioned this to me before I started using mine -- my wife and I chewed through paint and decals on both of our road bikes and mountain bikes before we realized the cause. I would recommend placing some sort of soft but clingy barrier between this accessory and your frame (for example some Grip Liner - 12" x 4' Black Cushioned Shelf Liner by Contact Brand)
