Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Perfect for the young trike-rider, this innovative model from Radio Flyer offers some remarkable features that both children and adults are sure to love. The removable, 4-position push handle on the steering wheel enables you to turn the front wheel while your child rides. When she's old enough to steer on her own, you can remove it. The freewheeling pedals allow your child to coast while you push, and the sturdy, tubular steel frame has flip-down foot rests. Also features 10-inch front wheel, durable molded wheels with grip tread, soft removable cargo pack, adjustable seat and ringing bell. Measures approximately 30" x 21.5" x 23".

2 out of 5 stars Liked it and then stopped liking it   October 26, 2008

I read the other reviews about not being able to assemble it or parts not working correctly and I haven't had any of those problems. It has worked as advertised for our child so we have like it but now, we are disappointed. Our son has outbrown the need to have a parent steer it for him so we removed the parent steering to allow him to do on his own and guess what? It has no brakes. We live in a hilly neighborhood so there is only two ways to stop...hit something or put your feet down. He likes riding it but can only do so in our garage since our driveway is on a slope. So overall I would say that it is a good attempt but not to great of a product. I went to the store today and bought a different one that he can ride on walks with us in the neigborhood that has brakes....so this one was a waste of money.

3 out of 5 stars Good idea, weak construction   October 16, 2008

After reading all the reviews we took a chance on this trike for our 17 month old as the steering feature seemed great for Mom and the free moving wheel a good feature. The price was low enough to where it was worth taking a chance despite some of the reviews. br / br /Our impressions: br /-Set up was pretty easy, about 20 min br /-I can see how the right back wheel might fall off - it and the axel are held on by a simple pressure fitting that you bang on with a hammer. Why they didnt just use a cotter pin (perhaps because metal is expensive in china!)..... It hasn't fallen off yet though. br /-The Steering handle has alot of play to it and you are constantly under/oversteering to keep it straight. Going to see if I can eliminate some of the play with a space (bad sign on a new toy!) br /- The ringing bell is really cheaply made. they could have sprung for a real one. br /- With all of this you dont want to roll it off curbs too much br / br /Overall my son really likes rtiding on it and my wife likes pushing him. But its clear this wont be a long lasting toy.

4 out of 5 stars Works for us, good for confidence building   October 7, 2008
Ben's Mom (Germantown, MD United States)
I got this tricycle after my 2 years and 10 months old son refused to ride his Radio Flyer classic tricycle with pushbar. The problems he has with the classic tricycle are: hard to keep himself on the seat (he has hypotonia in his trunk, hard to keep his feet on the pedals (no flywheel so they always move) and he had trouble steering (the parent can't steer with the pushbar either). He got frustrated with the classic tricycle because he couldn't manage all these things at once. Happily, the steer stroll trike answers these issues. He enjoyed his first day of riding the tricycle and wants to ride it some more! It's a great way for him to build confidence on a tricycle without giving him the frustrations he was having with a standard tricycle. This tricycle may not be for all children, but for my son it's been a great confidence builder. I hope it will hold up at least for the amount of time he needs it.

3 out of 5 stars After a "test-drive", we decided not to buy it   September 25, 2008
City Nomad (San Francisco, CA)
My 14 month old son recently had the opportunity to "test-drive" his 25-month old friend's Radio Flyer trike. Though it looks great and my son LOVED riding it (we pried him away from it after 1/2 of riding), we will definitely not buy it; the squeak was AWFUL! Though it's possible the squeak could be corrected with some WD40, the bike in question was less than two months old and is hardly ever used - it really shouldn't be squeaking like that. Further, though the bike looked great and there is no doubt my son would love it, it did not seem sturdy enough to stand up to him for long. Good idea, nice looking, but poorly crafted. br / br /p.s. if you do decide to buy it, spring for the long handle - I was happy to have it when I pushed my son around for 1/2 hour.

5 out of 5 stars No problems!   September 15, 2008

I read a couple reviews talking about the steering breaking, so I waited six months before I reviewed it. We use this trike about 3-4 times a week and it's stored outside in the elements. We've had no issues at all. Granted, our son's only 2 weighs 30lbs or so, so a heavier child may cause some issues, but everything's done well so far. steering is first rate, pedals work great, all after 6 months of heavy usage.
