Product Description
Take a poll of river guides and you will find that Chaco's performance line of sandals is considered the gold standard for rough, amphibious use. The Chaco Z/2 women's sandal is one of those models, and thanks to its toe strap feature is perhaps the most performance-oriented model of the line. The pull-through strap feature allows for tightening down on the big toe or any other portion of the foot as loosely or as firmly as possible, providing increased forefoot precision in ever-changing terrain. Whether it's time to go back in the water or hike a few miles with wet straps, the Chaco Z/2 sandal's soft polyester webbing dries faster than nylon and maintains a consistent fit in all conditions. But perhaps the best features are what lie underfoot. First, a BioCentric footbed contour supports the foot for a healthy stride. Long a passion of the designers at Chaco, this footbed platform carries the seal of approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association. And for unmatched all-terrain traction and durability, a Vibram Unaweep outsole on the Chaco Z/2 sandal grips anything from rounded river rocks to crushed pumice.

4 out of 5 stars Weird sizing, environmentally friendly, nice shoe   March 20, 2008

I chose the Z2 because I wanted to enhance the security of the sandal on my feet. I usually HATE things between my toes! Fortunately, Chacos are extremely adjustable, so I can make the loop comfortable, thus it doesn't bother me! br / br /These sandals have excellent arch support. My husband is very picky about his arch support due to having extremely low arches. He loves the support and I like the fit! It is healthy for my feet (according to podiatrists) and it doesn't flop around like most sandals. br / br /I love the fact that these sandals are environmentally friendly! The repair services that Chaco provides makes it so that a well-loved pair of sandals doesn't get tossed into a landfill, but re-webbed or resoled for much more use! I actually bought both my pair of Chacos and my husband's pair used. I had to get my husband's shoes resoled immediately and he not only gets the benefits of them being broken-in/pliable, but a new sole with great traction! We love our chacos! br / br /One thing odd about these shoes though, is the weird sizing. They run a little narrow and long. I usually wear a half or whole size bigger than I had to buy in Chacos. I was grateful that I had the opportunity to try a pair on before I ordered online. I recommend doing this if you can. If you can't, order a half size smaller than you usually wear and possibly wider than usual too. br /

5 out of 5 stars The Best Shoe You Will Ever Find!!!   February 10, 2008

I have worn MANY different shoes. I used to be all heels and dress shoes, but then I had knee surgery. With my bad knee I needed something that would work for support. I went on an Outward Bound Course in June of 2002. My course instructor had some. She demonstrated the flexible straps and the other fun attributes that chaco had to offer. It took me a few years to figure out the name of the shoe, but when I finally discovered them I had to have a pair. br / I picked out the perfect color and the perfect size. Chacos were actually the first thing I ordered online. Amazon should be happy I did because they are the best purchase I've ever made. I've worn my chacos through some pretty trying times. Through about 20 national parks, working as a camp counselor, bartending, and SO many more! My only wish was that they came in brown and they have those now too! br / My entire family now wears chacos and for my mother's reconstructive ankle surgery that's saying a lot! She says that they're the only shoe that make her foot feel better. Notice she didn't say not hurt, but better br / br /I don't care what style you get or what color. JUST ORDER SOME!

5 out of 5 stars Great hiking sandal   August 9, 2007

I had heard about the great Chaco fit, and decided to try them out for myself. The footbed takes a while to get used to (at least for my sensitive feet) since it's made out of hard rubber and it's not soft. However, it is very supportive, so I didn't miss my usual soft footbeds after about a week. It also takes a while for your feet to get used to the very form-fitting straps. It took me a few days to figure out the straps so that my feet didn't move around but didn't cramp due to a tight fit. br / br /What's fun is that all of the straps are adjustable, since they're all connected as one long piece of webbing in the footbed itself. Once I had it all figured out, the fit was so good that I can't go back to ill-fitting sandals ever again. I don't even normally go for anything with toe loops in them either, but I chose to go with the Z2 since you can pull in the toe strap and wear it with socks. br / br /What REALLY surprised me was after I took my Chacos out for a hike. Despite going on an elevated trail with some loose rock, I had more traction than some people in my group wearing hiking boots. Of course, sand and tiny particles of gravel will get into the sandal, but if it's anything bigger than a toe, it won't go in. br / br /My only qualms with it is with the sizing. I had read that they run large so I got a size 7 (I'm a perfect 6.5). I found out pretty quickly that I had gotten the wrong size, since walking 3 miles in them caused the bottom of my feet to blister. I went down to a size 6 and those felt heavenly in comparison. However, the strap ends up being way too long, so I have to tuck the straps into the heel. It never stays, so I'm thinking of shortening them myself. Eh, a little quibble for such a great shoe. br / br /Update on 10/23/08: A few months ago, I shortened the straps by sewing them in, and now they don't bother me anymore. Simple enough to do, so I didn't find it necessary to send them in. However, a week ago the soles of both sandals started to come off. I sent them into Chaco requesting the adhesive be reapplied, since the soles themselves were still in good shape. (I did check the "resole" option in case the warranty didn't apply.) Yesterday, I get my shoes back with the soles reattached, at no charge. A big thank-you to Chaco for their repair system and their honesty!

5 out of 5 stars Chaco sandals z2   August 6, 2007

These sandals were for my wife who had had another pair. I bought a wider pair to accomodate her bunion, and she is very happy with them.

Great shoe, but I just felt like I wanted a bit more room to move. So I sent these back got the Wide version. Much more comfy. I normally wear an 8, but had to get a 7. Also, my feet do NOT usually require a wide shoe at all.
