Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Originally developed for the Swedish Department of Defense, Swedish FireSteel is a flash of genius. Its 3,000 C spark makes fire building easy in any weather, at any altitude. Used by a number of armies around the world, Swedish FireSteel's dependability has already made it a favorite of survival experts, hunters, fishermen and campers. It has also found its way into cabins and backyards as a fool-proof way to light stoves and gas-barbecues.

4 out of 5 stars Very rugid   November 16, 2008
Josh
I like how rugid and thick the firesteel is, the striker could be thicker but other than that its a great combo.

5 out of 5 stars Swedish? I think not.   November 10, 2008

This product is in no way neutral like Sweden because it is hott. It does work well in the cold and even when completely soaked in any liquid and I do mean any. This thing may be the greatest tool in your bag right after a good knife. So simple a noob could use it. Rats off to Ya' !!!

5 out of 5 stars Great product.   October 15, 2008
Nino Manganar (Philippines)
Very happy with my purchase of FireSteel Army model. I was actually able to make fire with cotton buds in just a few strikes. And considering I have never experienced making fire with anything like this before, that's pretty amazing. With some practice I should be successful with just 1 or 2 strikes. br / br /It's too big for my pocket though so I plan to buy the scout model for that purpose. And I'll put the army model in my preparedness pack.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not Great   October 9, 2008
Eidolon- (NY USA)
Basically creates fire and does a good job at it. Only reason I gave it 4 stars was that the included striker eats away at the rod pretty quickly.
