5 out of 5 stars Nesting in the Wild   December 21, 2008
LuLu FuFu (Seattle, WA)
I've read Mary Jane's magazines and other books and couldn't wait for this one to come out. When I cracked it open, I was not disappointed. She takes us on a wonderful journey on how to create our own little nest in the wild. Among the many things, you'll learn how to: br / br /* Create your own furnishings from natural findings (saplings and such) br /* Search for and use wild greens and eatery br /* Make tasty foods for family and children br / br /As always, Mary Jane's books are a feast for the eyes and will leave you longing to create your own wild habitat, be it pseudo tent or shanty. br / br /A must add to your collection!

5 out of 5 stars buy one for yourself and one for a friend   November 18, 2008

It was more than I expected. Not only did it have lots of good tips for creating my own outpost, it had great stories about strong women. It's a great coffee table book too. It's tempting to pick up and hard to put down. br /The photographs are a bonus.

What a wonderful book If you love being outside, this is a must read for you. I love the outdoors, but live in a small city, I will bring the outdoors to my backyard with all the great ideas. It just gives you such a warm cozy feeling reading this book. What to read more!!!

3 out of 5 stars Children everywhere   September 18, 2008
Carmen Iris (Little Falls, MN USA)
I am a fan of MaryJane and a Farmgirl. I have all her books and I love them. My problem with this one is the excessive focus on children. If I had wanted a book on activities for children, I would have looked for a book on the subject. There are many things I love but that ruined it for me.

This is a true story. I was in a bookstore looking in the "Antique Price br /Guide" section when I came across THIS book! Now whether it was MISHELVED, br /MISPLACED or someone had stashed it there.. to come back later and buy.. br /I WAS SOOO GLAD IT WAS THERE! I spent the next few hours (!!) reading br /this one-of-a kind gem! I never met anyone quite like this author. BUT br /I sure would like to! She takes you on a journey to another place and time br /..and shows you how THEN could be NOW. She entrances with her down home br /wisdom and bit's of her life story. I really NEVER felt the time br /go by.( Perhaps it was a "out of body" experience? If so I want to go back!!)This book made me enchanted and giddy. It made me yearn to go horseback riding again. In short it made me want to rediscover myself. br / Now I would have stayed there longer reading it, but alas they had to close! READ THIS WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL BOOK!
