Product Description bigNot all dreams are sweet./bigPFor seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime. PShe can't tell anybody about what she does -- they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can't control. PThen she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant....

Guaranteed to be your new favorite book! November 22, 2008 Alyssa Newberry (Tampa, FL) Lisa McMann's book WAKE is the story of a girl named Janie who has the ability to enter and manipulate the dreams of others. Sure, this seems like it would be an awesome super power to have, but Janie sees it as a curse. Every time she encounters someone who has fallen asleep, she gets sucked into their dreams, no matter what she is doing at the time. To make matters worse, she has difficulty helping the people escape their nightmares or overcome difficult circumstances in their dreams, and so must watch helplessly from the sidelines. br / br /Janie also can't help but fall in love with Cabel, a boy from her neighborhood who has disturbing nightmares and has way too many secrets for Janie to handle. br / br /Overall, it was an excellent book, and is definitely my new favorite. The idea for the book is one I've never encountered before and is completely enthralling. I couldn't help but be sucked into Lisa McMann's world and found myself finishing the book in one sitting and desperate for more. The layout of the book is also novel, breaking away from the conventional numerical chapter system and instead is broken into sections where the events are told including the date and time, which helps the book seem more solid. The characters are also very realistic and the description is perfect--not too thorough and not too light. br / br /Wake would be a great book for anyone of any age as long as they appreciate a good story that is a mixture of romance, thriller, and the supernatural. br /
Your Dreams Are Not Your Own November 22, 2008 Shari Seenpik Wake was an amazing book. It had many unexpected plot twists, and I couldn't put it down! I would honestly recommend this book to all of my friends, since it was such a good book. I can't wait for Fade! It is a must read, and I couldn't put it down!
Short, but sweet November 17, 2008 Neker (Duson, Louisiana United States) Great teen read (more upper teen--I wouldn't recommend it to those 15 and under). Janie lives a crazy life in that she is sucked into other people's dreams. What I mean is, she can be awake but if anyone falls asleep near her, she is pulled into their dreams. If the dream is frightening, Janie will even unknowingly have seizures. The dreams last as long as that person is sleeping. br / br /I thought this was a unique and fascinating topic to frame a story around. Yet, McMann doesn't stop there. There is also the relationship formed between Janie and her next door neighbor who moves in when they are about 11-12 years old and Cabel, the strange boy at school. All characters are dysfunctional in their own way which leads to interesting and dramatic interactions. I thought it was a great book and I look forward to reading more.
Fast Read, Little Development November 14, 2008 Twilight This book was a fun, quick read, however, I felt it lacked in the character development aspect. Hopefully with the next book this will be reamidied.
not what i expected... November 6, 2008 although this was a great read, it was definitely not what i expected. i really enjoyed the twist to the story.it would be awesome to be able to go into some people`s dreams.
