Product Description
The Graduate Study in Psychology is the best source of information related to graduate programs in psychology and provides information related to approximately 600 graduate programs in psychology in the U.S. and Canada. The Graduate Study in Psychology publication contains information about the number of applications received by a program, number of individuals accepted in each program, dates for applications and admission, types of information required for an application (GRE scores, letters of recommendations, documentation concerning volunteer or clinical experience, etc.), in-state and out-of-state tuition costs, availability of internships and scholarships, employment information of graduates, orientation and emphasis of departments and programs, plus other relevant information.

4 out of 5 stars Massive Amounts of Information, But Not Everything You Need   April 12, 2008

This book is full of helpful information on graduate programs in Psychology. Using the index in the back of the book, you can easily find a list of all schools providing a program in your field of interest. This index also differentiates by degree awarded allowing the user to find the PhD, MA, MS, EdS,PsyD, etc. that they need without searching through every program in the field.

Each school in the book has information on what programs are offered, which are APA accredited, tuition, admission requirements, opportunities for teaching and research assistance-ships and tuition remission (as well as percentage of students receiving them), student demographics, housing and post graduate employment.

Despite all of this useful information, there is no listing of Faculty interests/areas of study.

The book is a great starting place, but to find the right school further research would need to be done through other sources, such as program websites and faculty.

5 out of 5 stars great guide for psych schools   April 5, 2008

This book has helped me find graduate programs in psychology. Internet searches were confusing and lacking information that I needed. Without this book I would be lost!

Graduate Study in Psychology 2008 is the 41st edition of this book. I include the book's TOC to show what it is and what it isn't. This book IS a guide to over 500 psychology programs in the US and Canada. This book ISN'T a practical guide to clinical psychology.

3 out of 5 stars Not the best (for clinical, at least)   November 6, 2007

When I first applied to graduate school, I bought both this book and the Insider's Guide to Graduate Programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology. To my dismay, this book didn't have any information that the Insider's Guide didn't have--plus, the Insider's Guide gave me a much better picture of what the faculty were working on than this book did. For other branches of psychology, this might be worthwhile; but for clinical-bound people, I'd recommend relying on the Insider's Guide and the programs' websites. Good luck applying!

3 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, if you can find it...   May 14, 2007

I purchased this book to find out which, if any, universities have online PhD programs. This book did not enlighten me. A few easy-reference charts would have made it much more searchable. It would have been great to look at a chart showing at a glance which schools have developmental psychology programs, for instance. If you already know what school you want to attend, the book has a lot of information, including facts such as how many students have dropped out of each program. But don't use this book for your starting point unless you enjoy reading page after page of 6-point font.
