Product Description
bFinally#8212;A Pregnancy Book That Won't Put Men to Sleep/bbrbiMy Boys Can Swim!/i/b tells real men everything they really want to know about pregnancy, such as: How much is it going to cost? Why does your wife primp before seeing her doctor when she hasn't put a stitch of make-up on for you in months? And, most important, what's it going to do to your sex life? brThis rollicking, laugh-out-loud book is for expectant dads in search of bottom-line pregnancy information, without all that boring touchy-feely stuff you find in those books written for women. Inside you'll discover helpful#8212;and hilarious#8212;information and insights on such topics as: brbThe Maternity Wardrobe:/b "A key part of the maternity wardrobe is maternity underwear#8212;parachute-like undies big enough to fit an NFL defensive lineman." brbBaby Names:/b "Don't give your kids mockable names like Thaddeus, which is Greek for 'I'm a dork and should be beaten up.'" brbThe Birth:/b "No one told me it's normal that babies' heads can be misshapen at birth. I was convinced that my wife gave birth to Veldar, the conehead."

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic!   November 2, 2008
Dallas Courrege
My husband blazed through this book in a day, laughing through most of it. Although there were a handful of topics I thought were missing, it was thorough enough for him. I plan to buy this book for every first-time dad I know in the future!

3 out of 5 stars Ok Book   October 22, 2008

The book is alright. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I thought it would be a little more helpful.

1 out of 5 stars Author is obviously unhappy about his wife having a baby...   October 17, 2008
Erin M. (Rocklin, CA USA)
I bought this book for my husband after reading some reviews on Amazon.com. According to the reviews, this sounded like a fun book. I read the book when we received it (in about 45 minutes, that's how small it is), and I was very disappointed. While the author tries to hide it with humor, he is obviously unhappy that his wife is pregnant. It's little things that give it away, like when he says if you're into the fact that your wife has gained weight and gotten bigger, then you should tell her so. You should tell her so regardless! Lie through your teeth! That is the time for an oscar-worthy performance! If you are looking for humerous advice from a guy's perspective, I highly recommend "She's Having a Baby - and I'm Having a Breakdown" by James Douglas Barron.

4 out of 5 stars Great for men, but very basic   October 6, 2008
Jen (Bethesda, MD)
The book was a great first read for men. it was entertaining, well written, and in general a great informational book. It did, however, lack all the medical explanations and details. The author tells you that is not the purpose of this book, so it is not misleading in anyway. I would definitely suggest it for a new dad, but I would pair it with a more detailed look at pregnancy. Enjoy!

2 out of 5 stars Cute and funny, but devoid of nutritional value.   September 26, 2008

I wanted to buy my husband a good book to read since we are expecting our first child. Based on the high star rating I picked this one. Now my husband is not much of a reader but even he was taken aback when we opened the package and out came this slender, tiny book. Clocking in at 92 pages in big type and several cartoons, we correctly assumed that there really wouldn't be much there. The book was definitely funny and had us giggling a few times, but when he finished my husband was disappointed and really hadn't learned much if anything. br / br /If you want a book about the realities of pregnancy, written in a humorous and engaging way, try out Jenny McCarthy's Book Belly Laughs: The Naked Truth about Pregnancy and Childbirth. This book is aimed more at women, but has a similar feel to "My Boys Can Swim!" while managing to convey a lot more information.
