Modeling and prediction of oceanographic phenomena and climate is based on the integration of dynamic equations. "The Equations of Oceanic Motions" is a resource. Kind of a hybrid manual-textbook, it develops the equations of physical oceanography from first principles. Peter Muller developed the notes for this book specifically for his course at the University of Hawaii, "Advanced Geophysical Fluid Dynamics."

this will be an incredibly useful one-stop reference for oceanographers and meteorologists. the organisation is systematic. you can find derivations of equations and regimes they apply to. tables and figures are used efficiently. the assumptions behind the equations are also presented clearly. use this book to find out which formulations you should be using to study the flows you are interested in. the material in the book has also the advantage of having been road-tested in courses. a great book! (one complaint: expensive)
