Speedy Delivery, Excellent Condition and Amazing Book!!! January 15, 2008 Talia Miller (Akron, OH USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
The book arrived in excellent condition. You can tell it is brand new! The delivery was speedy. It is an amazing book!!! It was a gift to my husband and he loves it. It swallows him in. For one page read he can come up with numerous pages of notes... he thinks that it is that outstanding. So I would highly recommend this purchase... it's not expensive either!!! :-)
Typical Crowley, thank goodness for notes. October 23, 2007 Paul Stuart Taylor Lots of hidden messages. I admit that I had to have some help with the side notes, although they didn't always help or say anything at all. But for good reasons considering the reasons. You can read that yourselves. I would recommend this book to any one who is either an intermediate or advert in magick and occult.
The back-story of the grimoire's use by secret societies October 12, 2007 historybuff (WA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
In the Middle East there lies an ancient tomb. The tomb of Issa al Nagar. br /Solomon's Temple holds the secret. br /What was the Gnostic's secret regarding the relationship of Christ to the Serpent in the Garden of Eden? What did they actually mean by calling Christ the groom and MM the bride? Was their marriage an allegory for something more profound and beautiful? What does Lucifer actually mean? Why did the church suppress the origin of GAT- the goat-headed God of Paleo-Herbrew texts? Why did they suppress YEHWAH's queen, Astarte and later demonize Ba'all and Lilith? How is the Great God Pan celebrated daily in every Christian church? What is the simple truth of the starfire, Alchemy, and sex magick? br /[...] br /
One of Crowley's Best... May 29, 2007 Samuel Weiland (West Pico) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is Crowley at everything Crowley does best. He mixes magick, mysticism, poetry, sarcasm, irony, and satire into a strange little book that is more like a puzzle than a traditional book of poems. br / br /Perhaps difficult the first time through if one has no background in Thelema or Qabalah, but it is not the worst introducion one could have to Crowley. The copious footnotes help somewhat, but the truth of the matter to appreciate all its many, many layers one would have to be at least somewhat knowledgeable of Qabalah, high magick, and some background on Crowley's life (the entire book is, in addition to everyting else I've mentioned, also a "love-poem," believe it or not.) br / br /Crowley fans and those into a very unique experience will do well to apply.
Excellent Service, strange man January 9, 2007 Daniel Connelly Jr. (Cold Spring, NJ USA) 4 out of 22 found this review helpful
Though, the service from this particular seller was excellent and I only ordered the book because I was curious about Aleister Crowley I actually haven't read this book. I read the "Book of Law" and that was enough for me to get an idea of what Aleister Crowley was about. He was a chess master, mountain climber, poet, painter, astrologer, drug experimenter, and social critic, but something must have went wrong early in his life for him to follow the path he did. Maybe it was being raised as a Darbyite which are members of the most extreme wing of the Protestant sect known as the Exclusive Brethren. John George Haigh who is known as the acid bath killer was also a Darbyite. I appologize if there are any Darbyites out there, but most likely being a Darbyite prevents you from reading this.
