I bought this book for my nephew(8 yrs). It has a lot of useful information for a student his age, along with DIY experiments and links to more info on the internet. I definitely recommend this book.

Bought this for my fourth grader and she really likes it. The colorful photos are captivating and the links inspire them to want to look further into things. I would recommend this for a reference book or even a jumping off point to a self-made science curricula.

5 out of 5 stars Great reference   November 4, 2007

Great reference for our middle school children (ages 11-13 - good but not spectacular students). Makes science research go much more smoothly. The book itself gives good basic information on a wide variety of science topics. The web links allow them to get more in depth information when needed, or to see some cool graphic illustrations. This book has definitely allowed our kids to do a better job with their science homework and reports. I am sure they will continue to use it through high school.

3 out of 5 stars Poor Binding   October 28, 2007

The encyclopedia is not bad with the coverage and internet links. However, as a reference book, it should be in hard cover. The book, with soft cover and poor binding, started to fall apart just a week after we used it. What a disappointment!
