Great starter book even for guys. October 7, 2008 David A. Olson My wife and I purchased this book after seeing it at our local mall. The recipes where fast and easy to put together. I really liked the wraps and was able to make my own healthy variations. Overall, it helped us make better food, "Not Microwaved" ;) by introducing good reciepes that we will use at least 2-3 times a week.
Help for the everyday non-perfect dieter October 7, 2008 A. D. Kennedy (Washington, DC) I am a fan of Hungry girl. She tries. She really tries to think of ways to lower the Weight watchers points values (usually adding more fiber) while not totally sacrificing taste. Some of these are definitely recipes that will not be repeated after I tried them. You have to try them anyway because you just don't know what will become a favorite. So far I am loving the yum yum brownies (better cold from the fridge after cooled), butternut squash fries (even though it is a total pain to peel and chop), and I am really looking forward to trying the shirataki noodles. You can buy shirataki noodles that have zero calories as well as the brand that she recommends. Bottom line, hungry girl is about experimentation with food and having fun while cooking and realizing that we have to lower calories and up the fiber in order to lower weight. Yes, some of the names are a bit much, but it is all in the spirit of trying to embrace cooking and your food while lowering calories. It certainly takes some of the sting out of it for sure. Remember that this is a DIET cookbook people, and then from that expectation your tastebuds might stop rebelling quite so loudly.
This book changed my LIFE! October 1, 2008 C. Epp (Austin, TX) I lost 30 pounds in the first three months of using this book. I love the food. It was a big change in eating habits for me, but I feel much happier and lighter now. Try it out.Hungry Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World
My entire family loves this book ! September 30, 2008 S. Hankins (East Texas) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In just 3 weeks I have lost 17 lbs and my husband has lost 15 lbs! So far we haven't tried a recipe we haven't loved. The chicken quesadillas are my favorite and the turkey meatloaf runs a very close second! Most everything has been quick to fix - so it fits into our busy schedules. Give it a try .. you won't be disappointed !
Great low point recipes! September 25, 2008 R. Nichols (Westford, MA) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Whenever I am running low on ideas for what to cook, I open up my Hungry Girl book to find an easy recipe that is good for you. A majority of the recipes that I have made are really good and everyone around me would never know that they are good for you.
