GE Energy Smart Floodlight bulbs August 28, 2008 Malcolm T. Mcpherson (Hilton Head Island, SC) The bulbs emit light at least as bright as our old incandescents for far less wattage and heat. Our only adjustment is they come on dim and need a minute or so to brighten up. Leaving one strategically placed incandescent bulb per room to come on immediately helps that problem. br /One bulb arrived broken, and replacement was quick and highly satisfactory.
Great product but... May 5, 2008 DVC This is a great product provided you can live with the fact that it takes maybe 30 seconds for the bulb to get to full brightness which is common with this type of bulb. Also, the bulbs seem a lot brighter than the 65 watt equivalent advertised which can be either good or bad depending on what you're using the bulbs for. These bulbs do not buzz or flicker like the similar ones I bought years ago.
Bulb is just OK February 19, 2008 A. Wolff (Washington, D.C.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Just bought this bulb at Target to replace a kitchen recessed light bulb - 65 Watt. The light output is no different than the old bulb. The drawback is the slow startup, about 30 seconds. Do not use this bulb if it is the only light source in a room. In my mind, stumbling in the dark is not progress. A light should come on when you flip the switch.
Warm-up time is excessive February 8, 2008 KenSoren (Inland Empire, CA) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought these bulbs to replace the regular 65 watt floodlights in my new recessed kitchen lights. I have been using the curly CFL bulbs for years and have enjoyed the quick start up of those bulbs. For some reason these floodlight bulbs take what seems an excessive amount of time to come to full brightness - probably 30 to 45 seconds. This I found unacceptable. I returned the bulbs to Amazon and will go back to using the old curly bulbs until I find a CFL flood light that starts up instantly. br /I need to add that this is the first thing I have returned to Amazon and I am pleased at how easy it was using the prepaid mailing labels.
Bad bulbs January 30, 2008 Laurence M. Siegler (Omaha, NE United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased four of these bulbs in June. The first bulb burned out in October. The second bulb burned out in February. Both bulbs actually cracked. I have never seen a bulb break in use before. Seven year life span? Don't believe it. The bulbs are also slow to light. GE supplied a coupon for the first bulb that broke. I have been unable to find the bulbs anywhere that takes coupons. I told them not to bother sending another coupon, as I had no intention of buying any more of their bulbs. br / br /LMS
