Quality in Question!!! November 11, 2008 William C. Gould This product looked like a new trimmer, however after using it for approx. five minutes and after having trouble starting it It quit running and never was able to get it started again, it is now in one of Homelites factory service centers for repairs which will cost me another $10.00. br / I will think twice about ever purchasing another refurbed again, and probably never will online. I will stick to retail stores where i can return it should problems arise.
trimmer October 4, 2008 R. Hembree Works well out of the box. I am a Homelite customer with years of using their products. The lightweight products are a joy to use. If you use the more expensive trimmers you will get back problems and will get tired quickly as they are extra heavy to tote around for a large yard. I usually get at least 10 years of service from past Homelite products. The folks who have a problem right out of the box with new merchandise sound suspect (I do know some who have problems with everything they buy (tvs, cars, boats, mowers. One person had a new car with automatic transmission problems right away. When riding with the person I noticed they always drove along the interstate in second gear at high speeds, and never had a clue as to which forward gear they used.
Junk September 30, 2008 Richard Ward (Okay, OK.) Wouldn't start out of the box after incorporating all instructions in manual. 50 pulls later, I called Homelite customer service after trying several things they told me, it finally started. When I started to trim with it, it died and refused to start again after many pulls. br / br /I called them again and they sent me to a service center 30 miles away. The old guy there with 30 years experience threw away the sparkplug because it was DOA. He dumped out the gas I had mixed (50 to 1) and told me to forget the manual and instead mix it at 16 to 1. br / br /The only way he could get it to start was to squirt some oil in the cylinder before pulling the rope. It needed it to make more compression. He said that it may stat without that after the rings seat in time. Not the answer I wanted to hear. I have run 4 tanks of gas thru it and I have to squirt in oil every time it sits for 15 minutes or more.. br / br /I would like my money back so I can buy one that will start run. br / br /
Performs flawlessly for me September 17, 2008 Richard Monday Not sure what these other reviewers got (lemons or what), but mine works perfectly. Right out of the box, fueled and started working away. If you follow the instructions, there's no reason it shouldn't start and run fine. I would not hesitate to purchase more Homelite recons, even if they are out of business. In fact, I have all ready and am not disappointed at all.
