Awesome until you have to replace the trimmer string November 8, 2008 Amanda Malone (Houston, TX) This trimmer is awesome until the trimmer string runs out...then you might as well throw it away. Impossible to get the new string loaded correctly...got to love it when Chinese manufacturers build something that they never use.
Disposable Piece of Trash October 25, 2008 RadioActive1 (Texas) I bought this after my 10 year old Homelite finally bit the dust. Boy was I sorry I bought this thing. Right from the start it was hard starting, then after about 6 months use, the cheap plastic choke knob cracked and broke. I called Ryobi to order a new one (we're talking a part that I expected to pay maybe a couple of bucks for), and was told that they didn't sell the knob separately, and that I would have to buy a new carburator!! That wasn't the worst of it - the new carburator would only run me $55.00! I couldn't believe my ears. br / br /So, after searching everywhere for another type of knob that would work, I managed to fabricate a new knob out of steel putty, which worked fine. br / br /A month later and I can't get the thing to start at all. br / br /This one is going in the trash. If you're looking for a good disposable trimmer - this is definately the one to buy.
Good Value, But Not Perfect October 18, 2008 R. Albright This is my second Ryobi string trimmer, and it is an improvement over my previous model (which I purchased new approximately 7 years ago) in every way but one. The unit starts easier, seems to have more power and is relatively light and well balanced, compared to some other string trimmers that I considered. The one major flaw is that the string tends to "unseat" from one side of the head during operation. So instead of having string coming out of opposite sides of the head, I end up with both strings coming out one side, which necessitates shutting off the engine and repositioning the string.
line feed September 18, 2008 Frank L. Lodge (Port Republic NJ USA) The line feed and the spool loading are just not up to the standards one would expect. The possibility that I am doing something wrong is always there, but after many readings of the operators manual I feel I am doing everything right. I feel that I should be able to use it for more than one minute, many times less, without the line parting. The result, of course is to dis-mantle the spool and feed the line through again, and again. I'd really appreciate a reply. Thanks in advance
Good but not perfect product August 8, 2008 Ted H. Clarkson 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have used Ryobi trimmers for nearly 20 years. This one is easy to start and runs great. The trimmer head is having some problems feeding line, but I expect to get this worked out with Ryobi under warranty.
