We are extremely pleased with our Black and Decker 12-inch electric bump feed string trimmer and edger. We had purchased one of the new automatic feed trimmers in the spring from Wal-Mart and it just feeds through string like mad! It was a disaster. We couldn't find any of the bump styles in Wal-Mart, Lowe's or Home Depot, but thanks to Amazon, we were able to purchase a new bump trimmer. So, stock up everyone - you'll really hate those automatic trimmers!!!!!

This is a light weight weed whacker that works pretty well, until you have to mess with the spool. It is just too difficult to replace the spool due to a design flaw (the string itself gets in the way of the spool). It does get bogged down when the weed is dense, but the positive is that it gets very close to the spot you want to whack.

Decided to do my own lawn work so I bought this , an electric mower and other stuff, it wasn't too hard to set up,the first time I used it, it was great, the next time I used it, it started off well then I smelt burning,smoke came out of the casing and I decided I'd better quit before it exploded or something. I called amazon and they promised a refund. I heard BD were good, so I am hoping this is just a one-off. I wish the instructions were clearer too, like what do you do with the lengthening spool, trim it off ? leave it?

Great product, works wonderful for small yards , and you don't have to pay for gas to use it. Just make sure you have a long extention cord. It is pretty heavy after 10 min (my arms got tried after a while),but it does get the job done and at an excellent price. I have never been unhappy with a Black Decker
