Product Description
Fisher 1225-X: High performance, deep detection, for a low price! If you're looking for affordable depth, discrimination and ease of operation, this is the detector to check out. Fisher detectors are known for their extraordinary ability to penetrate mineralized soil. The 1225-X is no exception... it goes deep. VLF slow motion discrimination utilizes double derivative circuitry to ignore ground minerals and junk without having to whip the search coil back and forth. High performance for a low price. Backed by Fisher metal detector's Lifetime Warranty.

5 out of 5 stars Great metal detector but could be better.   March 4, 2008

If you like coin hunting, the Fisher 1225-X is definitely the metal detector for you. Just turn it on and go! I've owned mine for about 3 months, and I promise you when I say it's dead on, believe me, its dead on. You will bypass a lot of trash and dig a lot of coins. The pinpointing is dead accurate within a 3 inch perimeter. I don't think I've missed a coin yet with this detector. I usually set the discriminator at 5, max out (level 10) the sensitivity level, and leave with at least $2 in clad, after a 2-3 hour session. br / br /However, if you're looking for gold, now that's another story. You see with the 1225-X, you have to set the discriminator down to a minimum of 4. Which of course, with this low setting you'll be digging pull tabs, gum wrappers, and more pull tabs. But it works if you have the patience. br / br /I found my first gold ring about a week ago; a ladies' 14k beauty, with a butterfly design, that weighed in at 5 grams. However it took me about an hour of digging over 20 pull tabs before I found it. So remember for gold, you must have absolute patience. br / br /The 1225-X utilizes two 9 volt batteries and the overall battery life is great. The manual quotes about 50 hours per battery change, which is about right. It only weighs about 3 lbs, which allows me to swing about 3 hours per session. It's a tough detector. I know when I'm in the field; I'm pretty much rough on mine. But it doesn't miss a beat. br / br /So far, I haven't had any problems with the 1225-X. I know in time, it will definitely pay itself off and even earn me more pay dirt. I highly recommend this metal detector for beginners and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another Fisher product. br /
