| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Product Review The Scott's classic reel mower is light, maneuverable, and economical. The business end of this push reel mower is solid, sharp, and everything a reel mower should be, with five heat-treated, knife-sharp steel blades that can be adjusted for nine grass heights with very easy wheel tabs. With its 10-inch wheels, radial tires, and 20-inch cutting width, this mower should enable you to cross whatever terrain and reach whatever hard-to-access rogue patches of grass you desire. There's no soft cushion on the handle, which is too bad, but otherwise, the Scotts Classic is a durable, well-constructed, simple device.

Good for the Environment, Not So Much for Cutting Grass October 13, 2008 Cebes (Dracut, MA United States) This mower earns five stars for making you feel virtuous: no fossil fuels, no noise, no harm to the environment, and good exercise at that. However, on the question of efficiency, it's a different story. I don't mind the serious exertion it requires (my arms are getting stronger). But having grown up with a gas-powered mower, this (literally) just doesn't cut it. It gets hung up on even the smallest twigs in the lawn, it doesn't cut grass that gets too high, it doesn't do weeds well, and you generally have to go over the same section of lawn 2-3 times to get most of the grass cut. I'll stick with it for now, because I don't like the gas mowers. And I don't mind the uneven look of the lawn, as I'm not a lawn purist. But this mower is not for everyone. If you're more interested in feeling like a good citizen of the earth, get this mower. But if you want to cut your grass quickly and effectively, this might not be the right choice.
Scotts 20" Classic Reel Mower October 12, 2008 J. Westbrook (Dyersburg, TN) I have about a one acre yard total, majority behind my house. I generally mow the back with my riding mower and push mow the front. I recently set up a croquet court in the back and bought this mower to use on the court. I now use it to mow the front yard and the court in the back. This mower does an excellent job mowing. A few things to keep in mind before you buy. The thicker the grass the harder to push. I have Bermuda grass. I mow about every third day in the height of the season. Also small twigs will stop the mower, but they are easily removed. Thirdly my lawn is relatively flat. I not sure how it would perform on hilly yards. It seems to be well constructed and mows perfectly right out of the box.
Fan-friggin'-tastic!!! October 7, 2008 T. Flebbe Jr. (Paragould, AR) I live on an earthquake formed ridge in northeast Arkansas. My yard is basically a 30 degree slope that is 10 different types of grass and tons of gravel. After spending 7 years mowing this horrible yard with a traditional gas push mower, I saw the Scotts 20-Inch Classic Push Reel Lawn Mower #2000-20 for $106 shipped and thought I might as well have a go of it. It worked like a charm!!! It is light, easy to maneuver through the ditches, over my lumpy, rock ridden yard, and all while NOT slinging rocks, dust or other projectiles. The mower does not upset my allergies, doesn't bother the neighbors, doesn't scare my 3 year old and DOES NOT COST A DIME TO OPERATE!!!! I can go on and on about it. My yard is so craptastic that I cannot mow the whole thing with this mower, but I am able to keep the front yard trim. It has actually thickened up the grass and promoted growth of the grass I want in my yard. I L-O-V-E!!!! this mower!!!
A great little mower September 30, 2008 Terry Stevens (Phoenix, AZ) This mower is everything it was advertised to be. It's light, easy to assemble and use, and works perfectly. We have a small lawn and for this job, I would recommend it unconditionally. It would probably work well for larger lawns as well (the 20" swath is more than adequate to get the job done), but I'm not sure it was designed to do a large area and I'm not certain it would hold up to heavy duty use, but for a lawn of minimal dimensions, it provides great service without using fossil fuels, electricity, or causing emissions. It pushes easily and the finish cleans up with just a squirt of the hose.
Needed adjustment September 26, 2008 Donald A. Kalina (Chicago, Illinois) The instructions had stated that the lawnmower has been adjusted prior to shipping, however I could hardly push it. The blade was not turning easily. I had to re-adjust the blade for the lawnmower to work wihtout pushing so hard.
