Sog's Flash line of folding knives feature their exclusive Sog Assisted Technology, a mechanism that helps propel the blade open once you have initiated the one-handed opening action. It's fast, safe, and provides an extremely strong blade lock. When closed, the blade is held securely inside the handle. A bolt action lock is easily released with a sliding button while an additional safety lock provides added security when the blade is closed. When the switch shows red, you are ready to go. The handles of this knife are molded from glass reinforced Zytel and are contoured with ergonomic sensibility, making it comfortable to use. A reversible, bayonet-mounted clip extends from the back of the handle for carrying low and discreet while dual-thumb studs allow for an ambidextrous opening. About Sog

I never leave home without this knife. Great for self defense or as a pocket knife. The hilt is as durable as I have ever seen and every mechanism was built to last. Previous reviewers have said that the action is fast, well they are right! If I have the knife clipped to my pocket so that only the clip is showing (essentially the knife is upside-down), then I can grab it, spin it so that my thumb is on the clip (right handed) and with a quick downward and forward thrust, the blade springs out, ready for anything. I actually put it down the front of my slacks so that I don't have to use my pocket space (they are usually filled with gadgets and flash drives, etc.). If I am wearing a belt or black slacks, then you can hardly see the clip, but the knife is always ready in a moments notice. Take it anywhere and nobody will know that it is there. Oh and it is razor sharp out of the box and I've never had it open accidentally, even without the safety catch; although, I have dropped the knife before and it has openned when the safety catch is off, so be careful. Great knife! I highly recommend.

I obviously have a defective unit because the blade is locked down and will not open. The blade safety is off but the safety slider does not quite cycle as clean as it should, meaning it is stuck in the "safe" position. Also got a Trident from SOG to see which I like better and it opens fine.
Quite surprised that a new knife from a "premium" manufacturer would arrive unable to open. You would think for the price they would at least have someone open and close each before packaging to make sure they work. Missing a small defect I could understand...but something so fundamental tells me quality control is grossly inadequate. What else did they miss?
Mine is going back for good.

This knife is absolutely great for an everyday carry (EDC). The opening is smooth and the handle is light. I would highly recommend this knife.

This knife is AWESOME.nothing fancy, very utilitarian, the pocket clip is WAY BETTER than most tacticals I have seen - it keeps it perfectly ready in my back pocket, but doesn't stick out, so it just looks like i have a pen next to my wallet. the lock is very positive, and the SAT is super sexy, you'll find yourself opening and closing it like you're 8 years old, it feels so cool.Not exactly a pretty knife, its much more at home in your hand or your pocket than in a display case, but so are most good TOOLS.If you're in the market for this type of knife, this is a good solid choice, five stars!
