4 out of 5 stars Great way to keep bills to be paid! But a bit pricey.   October 31, 2008

I decided to spend the almost $30 on this item because I had used one in one of my office positions. I needed something that would hold full sheets of paper and in which I could place bills according to due date. This item has tabs from 1 - 30 and January thru December. I put quarterly, semi annual or annual bills (or notes) in the monthly items. That helps with budgeting as well because what needs to be paid is in order by month then to include in a budget. The only thing I don't like is that there's nothing that holds any of the papers in the "book" so if the book falls, everything goes flying. What I finally did was get a "magazine" holder and laid it on it's back. I put the book in there with the tabs on the type and it's kind of like a file then but easier to look through as opposed to using actual folders. I put little removable tabs on the days in which I have income coming in and then move the bills from their date due to the income day closest to when they're due that will still get them paid on time. And again, the cost is high, but for some reason these cost a lot no matter where you get them. Considering the cost of late payments, I figured it was wor

2 out of 5 stars Not impressive   October 9, 2008

I bought the more expensive version even though I couldn't find a difference in product description. I was hoping for quality. However, it is shabby. I may as well had saved a few bucks. Excess glue made the sections stick together and I had to pull them apart. Then, it was flimsy. It is a good concept; just needs better construction.

Long a staple of business, I was introduced to the desk file in Pat Dorff's "File... Don't Pile" book. The desk file is well constructed with dividers for 1-31 days and Jan-Feb months. I purchase a second organizer because my daughter liked the first one so much she took it. It's a must have tool to organize your activities, expenses and business.

5 out of 5 stars Tickle your way to organization!   January 19, 2008
Jacquie (Baltimore, MD)
Until I began using an expanding desk file (tickler) I had trouble keeping track of all the papers that required action on a specific date. This desk file saves the day. It also includes monthly tabs if the paper is not date specific. You just need to create a new habit to check it daily and cross-reference it with your day planner. Now I recommend it to my clients! Great organizing tool!

I know this "tickler file" - (what is a tickler file? It's an expanding file with tabs 1-31 and months - sometimes a-z, whre you can slide important papers pertinent to that particular day) may be considered somewhat obsolete, but I have relied on them forever. I am an admin asst with a busy schedule which requires a lot of printed material for my boss. This keeps me organized day by day for the month. I highly recommend this.
