Decent pencil sharpener for home use December 1, 2008

It's met my expectation to sharpen pencils automatically. The auto stop feature works well also. I have owned for a month now, so far I like it. Not sure how long it is going to last.

I owned an older version of this pencil sharpen until the motor recently died. The only reason it died was that I let someone else use it. I am a teacher and as you can imagine, used it more than the average person. I love every feature and would purchase this again with no hesitation.

Panasonic KP380-BK Classic Electric Pencil Sharpener, Black, 1 Unit br / br /I have tested and in some cases returned other pensil sharpeners. The Panasonic models have all been superior. The cost is a little more but the motor does not bog down and the auto stop feature works well. The KP380 is a newer model of the KP310 sharpener that a friend had. It seams to work just as well and hopefully it will last as long as my friends unit. br / br /Don't bother looking at other brands - buy the best.

I have had this sharpener for about 4 weeks and can rave enough about it. The first task was to sharpen 96 artist grade color pencils. And one after another went through without a hitch. And it puts a wonderful point on the pencil with NO BREAKAGE. br / br /The next task was to sharpen all of my graphite pencils, about 75. And presto they all came out first class with nice long points. I have been working on several large drawings with a lot of shading. This sharpener has been winner. Keeps me working without any breakage or down time. br / br /The cutting head withdraws when the point is done so there is no overcutting, however the motor keeps running until you take your pencil out of the unit. br / br /Very happy with this purchase and it's sure you will be also. Cheers to sharp pencils.

This seems to be double listed and Panasonic keeps changing the model number, but just go for "Auto-Stop" and save yourself aggravation. It's recommended by illustrators, who use a sharpener more in a month than most of us will in a year. It works faster than you'd expect and it will last longer if you don't overdo it each time (which people tend to do if a sharpener is backed against a wall, push as if trying to break through). It seems some people have gotten a "lemon" but this is the only sharpener I'll use - as I was told, buy this one and when it dies, buy another one. This part of life is simple.
