Great product. I use this for my Science classes when we do posters and projects.

5 out of 5 stars Zan on this - Stanley Long Stapler   April 24, 2007

This stapler has been around for quite some time. It is an excellent stapler and will staple 50 or more pages very easily. With that said; however, it works best with heavy duty Stanley staples which come in a blue box. They come in various lengths depending on the number of pages to be stapled. To find them type: staples (under the office supplies category) in the Amazon search window.

It will use ordinary staples if thinner staples are needed, but the stapler usually needs be opened up as though one would fill it up with staples between each stapling operation.

It also has a red depth gauge to insure the staples will be in the same place on each booklet.

PS: It is real durable too.

I'd have to disagree with the other reviewer, where I suspect the problem may be caused by the use of the wrong-sized staples. I've used this model of stapler for a couple of years for stapling booklets. Like all long-arm staplers, it's bulky, but it works reliably for up to about 25 pages (as advertised).

1 out of 5 stars Plain awful!   January 27, 2006

As an educator, I often need a long reach stapler for booklets and binding writing activities. Unfortunately, our school district purchases these Stanley Bostitsh long reach staplers. What normally should be a fifteen minute stapling project turns into hours of tediously frustrating attempts to bind together even a few sheets of paper.

I would estimate that only 20-30% of the staples are successful. Most crush up and half-way stick in the papers which requires them to be pulled out and attempted again. Sometimes this happens over and over. I think the record for me is re-trying the same staple 17 times before successful. And we're not talking about 20 sheets of paper here, folks. It's six. Other times, the staple just never comes out at all -- just a noise. Other times, the staple gets stuck inside the stapler requiring it to be opened and removed.

Since our school has many of these and the ALL have the same problems and were purchased at different times, I would have to assume that it is just a very poor brand. Stapling together 28 writing booklets yesterday took over 60 minutes. As if I don't have any else better to do!
