Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Claims archival quality... but the discs are very fragile. Beware   June 23, 2006

I tried the Memorex Pro Gold because they claim this very model of disc is ideal for archival, very reasonably priced. br / br /I used several tests to try the reliability of their claims, although the "100 year durability" test has to be left for time to judge. br / br /The Pro Gold DVD-R seem sturdy and reliable... that is, until you try to bend one of the discs. Give it a try. I took one of the discs, bent it from the sides, and the two plastic layers came apart! They snapped right off! The plastic layers in Memorex discs don't seem to be glued very well, and in the past I had Memorex DVD-r discs breaking apart from the center hole. This Pro Gold model doesn't seem to be glued any better. What good is a DVD-r with gold reflective layers, and antiscratch polycarbonate surfaces, if bending the disc makes it's plastic layers come right off? br / br /I am dissapointed, and hope they fix this problem. In the meantime, I'll use similar products from Sony and TDK, which to my professional experience, seem to be sturdier.
