Product Description Tripp Lite's 6 foot SVGA/VGA monitor replacement cable is the gold standard in video cables. The mini-coax (RGB) and paired video wire construction delivers superior signal quality. Gold plated connectors and gold plated copper contacts ensure excellent conductivity. Double shielding (foil and braid) provides maximum EMI/RFI protection. Both high density DB15 male connectors are molded and have integral strain relief to ensure they last a long time.

Missing the plug-and-play pin October 21, 2008 Adam B. Norberg (Redmond, WA, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
A little bit of VGA history: There used to be a missing pin in the array, to make it even harder to plug a cable in backwards; if it didn't have a pin missing there, the lack of a hole in the port would prevent the cable from being inserted. br / br /This is that kind of cable. br / br /Unfortunately, clever computer manufacturers got better ideas, and that one pin is now used to carry monitor geometry information. This is how Windows knows, without special configuration for an individual monitor, what range of sizes and resolutions your monitor can support. This pin is missing on this cable, however, so you'll have to fend for yourself. br / br /If you have a monitor of nonstandard resolution (for example, it's actually an HDTV with a VGA jack), Windows won't be able to give you the matching resolution. br / br /Good cable for standard monitors, unusable for monitors of nonstandard resolution.

I use this cable to connect from my laptop to my Panasonic HDTV flat panel. It works perfectly - thanks to the detailed description given on amazon, which is why I selected it.
